In 2023, extremist members of the Israeli Knesset attempted to ban teaching Christianity and proposed severe penalties for offenders, which failed due to pressure from American evangelical Christians. Recently, a preliminary bill was passed to criminalize praying to Christ at the Western Wall, highlighting rising tensions between Israeli laws and Christian beliefs.

In His ministry, Jesus Christ criticized the hypocrisy of Jewish leaders, particularly the Pharisees, denouncing them as liars and calling them out for failing to recognize Him as the Son of God. He emphasized that true understanding of God comes through Him, contrasting new teachings of love with rigid law-based practices still evident today.
