In the badlands of Chakwal, in north-central Pakistan, Bestway Cement is transforming plots of dry earth and olive and peach groves into a forest of solar panels.
Its efforts will add 6.34 megawatts of generation capacity by the end of the year, the company says, in addition to the 26 MW of photovoltaic cells currently in place. Already, solar generates over a quarter of the electricity powering its cement plant.
βItβs the only way we can compete,β says Abdul Waheed, the general manager at Chakwal, which produces over 3 million tonnes of cement per year. βOur rivals have already gone in this direction.β

Oracleβs proposed investment in 2 gigawatts of renewable energy projects for New Mexico comes as local opposition could delay development of the Project Jupiter data center that Oracle is building for OpenAI.
The two tech companies are developing the $165 billion Project Jupiter data center in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, as part of the broader Stargate AI infrastructure project announced by President Donald Trump in 2025. But Project Jupiter faces local protests and court battles over concerns about its environmental impactsβand the latest Oracle announcement on September 8 seeking proposals for renewable energy projects does not change the fact that the data center will be powered by fuel cells that consume natural gas.
βLike all matching programs, this would be synthetic in the sense that 2 GW of renewables wouldn't directly power the data center,β wrote Michael Thomas, CEO of the Cleanview data platform that tracks renewable energy and data center projects, in a LinkedIn post.

Ugreen MagFlow Pro
If youβre always on the go and always complaining about phone battery levels, then you need a power bank for your iPhone. Ugreen just launched a really cool power bank thatβs already 33 percent off, bringing the price down to $100.
We actually found this power bank to be one of the coolest things launched at IFA this year, literally. And thereβs a good reason for that because this is the worldβs first power bank with liquid cooling. Even better, thereβs a small window on the side that lets you see the coolant flowing through as it works, which is a neat trick. That system keeps the charging surface below 96.8 degrees F, even during fast wireless charging, so youβll be sure your pocket wonβt overheat when youβre charging your phone.
The charging speed on this tiny little thing is also impressive. The Qi2 wireless charging pushes 25W, which will take your iPhone 17 Pro Max to 50 percent in just 38 minutes without needing a cable. But if you want to charge your phone faster, thereβs a built-in USB-C cable that doubles as a carrying strap and can still deliver 45W of charging power. The 10,000mAh capacity is enough to fully refill your phone more than once throughout the day.
One honest caveat here is that all that liquid-cooling tech gives the MagFlow Pro a distinctive, eye-catching look, but it also makes it pricier than a plain power bank, even on sale. If you just want a basic battery to toss in a bag, you can spend less. But if you want the coolest-running, best-equipped magnetic charger out there, the extra money spent here buys you something really⦠well, cool.
For $100, this Ugreen power bank is a great pick, so grab one while itβs still under $100.
