LG TV shown scanning LAN for third-party phones and other devices

8 September 2026 at 22:52

LG TVs are facing scrutiny due to a video seemingly showing the devices’ capability to track users when the TVs are off.

YouTube channel Gamers Nexus worked with Level1Techs, a technology-focused YouTube channel,Β and security researchers to analyze LG TVs’ tracking capabilities. They shared packet captures that pointed to the TVs, including LG’s pricey G5 OLED TV, scanning the LAN for other devices.

β€œThe [G5] crawled our entire network and found dozens of unrelated devices, including smartwatches and phones of our staff who didn't even know we were working on this,” Steve Burke, Gamers Nexus' editor-in-chief, said.

Apple One and Apple TV subscription prices increase by up to 20 percent

28 August 2026 at 18:23

Apple increased the price for a monthly subscription to Apple TV by $2, to $15, today.

Annual prices increased by 20 percent from $99 to $119. Current subscribers will receive one month’s notice before paying the new prices, Apple said, per Variety.

Apple’s most recent price hike was in August 2025, when monthly prices went from $10 to $13. Monthly prices also increased in October 2023 and October 2022. Apple TV (then called Apple TV+) started in 2019 for (a seemingly financially unsustainable) $5/month.

Ads and tracking infiltrated TVs. Now they're coming for monitors.

LG monitors’ McAfee ads

LG lost some trust after a recent report that some of its monitors installed McAfee pop-up ads onto connected computers. Since at least 2024, some of these displays installed an app, LG Monitor App Installer, onto connected computers under the cover of driver updates installed through Windows Update.

Lawsuit demands Logitech hand tariff refunds over to customers

21 August 2026 at 20:04

Logitech is facing a proposed class action lawsuit for not giving customers tariff refunds.

In April 2025, Logitech raised the prices on 51 percent of its portfolio, with some prices increasing by as much as 25 percent.

The complaint seeks to β€œrecover monies that Logitech extracted from American consumers as offset for import tariffs that the United States Supreme Court has since declared unlawful, tariffs for which Logitech now stands to be reimbursed by the federal government. This is all while Logitech retained every dollar of the corresponding price increases it charged its customers due to the illegal tariffs.”

19 August 2026 at 21:21

A BIOS update for the Framework Laptop 13 with AMD Ryzen 7040-series processors is bricking the systems, multiple users have reported online.

Framework started shipping pre-built Ryzen 7040-based Framework Laptop 13 computers and compatible motherboards in 2023. In June 2026, Framework released BIOS 3.20 for the devices. The update adds mainboard support for features, including a haptic touchpad and new speakers, for the higher-end Framework Laptop 13 ProΒ and fixes issues, including one β€œwhere the Battery Extender status was reported incorrectly following a reboot, hibernation, or shutdown after the timer had expired," per a post on Framework’s forum from an employee.

Some users say that they installed the update successfully.
