Following iPhone Duo foldable launch, Motorola teases its next big move: a midsize Razr Fold

What you need to know

  • Apple wrapped up its iPhone 18 event, where it debuted the iPhone Duo (its first foldable), but Motorola wasn't interested in staying quiet.
  • The company talked about its "iconic" Razr line on Instagram, then teased a shorter, wide Razr Fold right at the end.
  • Recent rumors claim this wider Razr Fold could feature a "bezel-less" cover display, a dual horizontal camera array, and an "easy-op

Motorola had something to say following Apple's event this afternoon, where it showcased its first foldable, the iPhone Duo. Shorter foldables are taking the market by storm, and Motorola is making sure it's in the picture.

We're slowly settling down after Apple's iPhone event, where it showed off its first foldable, the iPhone Duo ($1,999 price tag, btw). Shortly after, Motorola went on Instagram to talk about why we should wait for its "next move." Moto takes us through its "iconic" lineup of Razr phones. These phones have folded for as long as memory serves.

The company takes us all the way through its Razr lineup from past to future. Yes—future. Motorola ended its short Razr homage video with a look at what seems to be its rumored wide Razr Fold. Before the shorter foldable appears, we get a good look at the Razr Fold—the taller book-style phone. Immediately after, we're taken to a blacked-out device that's shorter, like a passport.

Since Moto remained mysterious, it's hard to get a good look at the phone. What's evident from the blacked-out tease is its horizontal camera array. It rises off the back panel, giving that camera bump we've become accustomed to. Also, the phone's rounded corners, a choice Moto likely made for comfort, are on full display.

A wide Motorola Razr Fold started bouncing around our brains earlier this week when a rumor surfaced about its design.

Alleged sketches for the phone's design surfaced, suggesting Motorola would give it an "easy-open" profile and a "bezel-less" cover display. When fully opened, this wider, shorter Razr Fold would have a punch-hole selfie camera at the top right corner of the screen. The cover display would have its lens centered at the top. The camera bar was another highlight in these rumors. They claim Motorola could equip it with a dual-lens array; however, specific specifications are unknown at this time.

It's not evident when Motorola could debut this shorter Razr Fold. Recent rumors claim Motorola is preparing for a debut "in the coming months."

Motorola Signature 27 teaser suggests the phone is finally US-bound

What you need to know

  • A briefly leaked website teaser suggests the Motorola Signature 27 will finally bring the lineup to the U.S. market.
  • The original Signature had a 3x telephoto, while the new teaser might spark speculation about a possible periscope camera upgrade.
  • Motorola quickly pulled the teaser and has not officially announced pricing, final hardware specs, or a firm launch date.

Motorola’s Signature series is still a fairly new experiment for the company, but the first model immediately stood out with its slim 7mm body, soft-touch finish, and premium design. The catch was that it's not available to U.S. buyers. This could change with the next Motorola Signature model.

As spotted by a Reddit user, Motorola briefly posted a teaser for the Signature 27 on its U.S. website, complete with a registration form for customers interested in updates (via Android Authority). The pop-up displayed a close-up of the rear camera alongside the words “Signature 27” and “A new perspective is coming.” Motorola has since taken down the teaser.

The U.S. appearance is the biggest hint here. The first Signature never officially made it stateside, so placing the next-generation model right in front of U.S. visitors is a strong indication that the company is at least considering a launch in the United States.

The camera teaser could be even more interesting. The Signature originally had a 3x telephoto camera. The new image is an unusual focus on one camera. This could fuel speculation that Motorola might upgrade the telephoto system, perhaps to a 5x periscope lens. That’s not confirmed yet, so treat this as an educated guess.

The teaser is said to have also popped up on Motorola’s European site, and a Swarovski-branded edition could also be on the way, following the crystal-covered treatment given to the original Signature.

If the Signature 27 arrives in early 2027, it will be a straight fight in the ultra-thin category against the iPhone Air and the rumored Samsung Galaxy S27 Edge.

Motorola has not yet announced a price, specs, or launch date. However, since the original Signature was released in early 2026, Motorola may only have a few months to finalize the details.

Moto wants in: a wide Razr foldable just had its design leaked

What you need to know

  • A major leak claims Motorola is developing a wide Razr Fold to compete with Samsung, Huawei, and more.
  • The device could fit that small, passport-like design with an "easy-open" profile," a "bezel-less" cover display, and a dual lens horizontal camera bar.
  • An anonymous source claims the phone could debut "in the coming months."

Wide foldables are quickly becoming a popular trend. Leaks from over the weekend claim Motorola could be the next brand to hop on that train.

Leaks revealed by Android Headlines, courtesy of an "anonymous source," suggest the design Motorola is going for. Its source allegedly provided a few sketches, which purportedly showcase the various design ideas for the wide Razr foldable. One thing rumors claim is that Motorola's foldable could feature an "easy-open" profile. Among theories of a crease-less display and "3D glass," the wide Razr foldable's frame "isn't flat."

The report states this decision could help make the device easier for consumers to open on the fly. This wide Razr Fold certainly fits the bill in these leaked illustrations. Offering that shorter (perhaps even stout) frame with rounded corners. "Motorola" will allegedly be inscribed on the hinge, visible when folded. Curiously, one illustration, depicting the phone's cover display, suggests it could be "bezel-less."

What's more, the device could feature a horizontal, protruding camera bar, similar to Google's Pixels. Its camera array hasn't been narrowed down, but there's speculation that it might offer dual lenses.

Android Headlines was reportedly told by the anonymous source that Motorola is preparing to launch this "Wide Razr Fold" (or whatever it'll be called) "in the coming months."

Moto's going wide

Various leaked sketches purporting the alleged design of a
Motorola
Various leaked sketches purporting the alleged design of a
Motorola

If anything, Moto's wide Razr Fold might feel closer to what Huawei did with the Pura V Max. The company's "horizontally wide" foldable featured that landscape camera bar. The device feels more like a passport, which Google has done with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8. Huawei's wide foldable this year features a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. The current Moto rumors had nothing to say on this front, so we'll have to wait a while.

The idea of a wider foldable is something more and more people have become curious about. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 was incredibly popular for Samsung after a week of pre-orders. Consumers overseas crashed websites with their early orders 30 minutes after the phone went live. Shipping dates were also pushed back, since Samsung needed to manufacture more phones to meet demand.

Android Central's Take

Motorola got in on the "regular" fold (Moto Razr Fold) aesthetic earlier this year, and the phone looks pretty good. In fact, one of my colleagues said in their review that the phone gives Samsung a new reason to worry. Motorola made some good moves, but it's clear it wants to continue. Hopping on the wide-fold train is the next "best thing." We'll just have to see when/if the phone arrives. These sketches look nice, but they aren't enough for me yet.

Treat yourself: Motorola's Brilliant Collection expands with a sparkling Razr 2026 Swarovski Edition

What you need to know

  • Motorola announced another addition to its Brilliant Collection with the Razr 2026 Swarovski Crystal Edition.
  • The phone is clad in a Pantone Meteorite colorway with 35 Swarovski Crystals in Silver Night.
  • The Swarovski Crystal Edition Razr 2026 will be available on September 10 for $899 at motorola.com and Amazon.

It's that time of the year again when Motorola looks to bedazzle and captivate consumers with Swarovski Crystals.

If you're looking for artistry and brilliance, Motorola announced the Razr 2026 will join the Brilliant Collection this year. This means that the Razr 2026 will receive a Swarovski Crystal Edition, combining a dazzling aesthetic with Motorola's tech. The company states the Razr 2026 features "35 hand-positioned Swarovski Crystals in Silver Night." These crystals are laid out across the entire back panel of the clamshell foldable. Additionally, you'll find a few more at the top of the cover display.

Motorola teases that there's a "32-facet Swarovski Crystal" embedded in the hinge of the Razr 2026.

Like stars in the night

The Motorola Razr 2026 Swarovski Crystals Edition in Pantone Meteorite.

Motorola takes this bedazzled Razr 2026 further with its choice of color: Pantone's Meteorite. This colorway is more of a deeper, darker black that Motorola says contrasts with the phone's crystals and shine. If you're looking to grab the latest addition to the Brilliant Collection, Motorola will provide a clear protective case.

Consumers can find the Swarovski Crystal Edition Razr 2026 on September 10 for $899. The post states it will be available on motorola.com and Amazon. On September 24, you can find it at Verizon. We've rounded up all the information about the Razr 2026, as well. A few important specs include a 6.9-inch internal display and a 3.9-inch cover display with a 50MP primary lens. Motorola highlights its 4,800mAh battery, which can reportedly deliver up to 36 hours.

Motorola continues to build on its streak of Swarovski Crystal Edition phones following its releases in 2025. The 35 crystals remain a constant; however, last year, the Moto Razr 2025 was featured in an icy Pantone Ice Melt. The foldable was joined by a crystal-studded Buds Loop in Ice Melt.

Android Central's Take

This might be my favorite crystal edition of the Razr. The Meteorite colorway with the crystals makes those additions stand out in a good way. It feels like looking into the night sky; stars are everywhere. As before, the foldable remains the same, bringing users the same specs they'd expect from the standard, non-special edition phone. The wait's not long now if you're looking for it.

Does an 'Elite' chip really matter? I put two Android flagships to the test to find out

Qualcomm is making major strides in mobile processing by introducing custom Oryon cores in a smartphone processor. Now, the generational improvements have made their way across Qualcomm's chip portfolio — even to processors that don't bear the "Elite" branding.

This makes it tricky to compare the performance capabilities across smartphone models and chip generations. For instance, Motorola's new Razr Ultra 2026 is powered by the last-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. By comparison, the Razr Fold runs on a newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, just the non-Elite version.

I wanted to see whether an older Elite chip or a newer "base" chip offered better performance, so I put the Razr Ultra 2026 and the Razr Fold through a six-text benchmark gauntlet. The results weren't what I expected.

How I tested the Razr flagships

The Razr Ultra 2026 on a wooden surface

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

I put the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 and the Motorola Razr Fold through a series of six tests, each designed to gauge a specific aspect of device performance. To test CPU performance, which affects how snappy your device feels when opening apps and during basic use, I used both Geekbench 6 and Geekbench 7. For on-device AI testing, I ran Geekbench AI and its TensorFlow Lite framework. To see how the phones handled gaming and graphics-based tests, I ran 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme benchmark and stress test.

I ran each benchmark test three times, starting the next run immediately after the first one finished. This provides a clean average of the results that is more representative of real-world performance than a single run. Running the benchmark trials in quick succession hints at how the Razr Ultra 2026 and the Motorola Razr Fold handle sustained loads, and whether the phones experience major thermal throttling.

After completing three runs of each benchmark test, I allowed the phones to cool down before beginning the next test. This ensures the strain of former tests isn't impacting the performance of a current test.

CPU and AI benchmark performance

(Image credit: Brady Snyder / Android Central)

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip inside the Razr Ultra 2026 features two prime CPU cores that can be clocked up to 4.32GHz, plus six more performance CPU cores that can reach 3.53GHz. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip inside the Razr Fold is built on newer Oryon Gen 3 prime CPU cores, but they are only clocked at up to 3.8GHz. The processor's six performance CPU cores can hit up to 3.32GHz.

So, the older Elite chip offers higher clock speeds, and the base Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip has newer prime cores. Since the two chips have the same number of prime and performance CPU cores, the Razr Ultra 2026 and the Razr Fold's benchmark results should be in the same ballpark. Let's see how they turned out.

2,782 single-core / 8,261 multi-core

2,762 single-core / 8,170 multi-core

2,791 single-core / 8,268 multi-core

In Geekbench 6, the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chip consistently beat the newer base Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor by a few hundred points in single-core CPU performance. The Razr Fold averaged a 2,593 single-core score, whereas the Razr Ultra 2026 averaged a 2,791 single-core score. This kind of performance is what makes your phone feel fast when opening apps, loading webpages, or navigating the UI. Despite the Razr Ultra 2026's older chip and constrained form factor, the Elite processor still wins here.

As for multi-core performance, the Razr Fold manages to pull more out of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5's eight CPU cores. The newer, base chip's best benchmark run resulted in a multi-core score of 8,809, and an average of 8,559. The Razr Ultra 2026 was notably behind, putting up an 8,268 multi-core score. Essentially, this means the Razr Fold's non-Elite chip will be better for multitasking and parallel workloads than the Razr Ultra 2026's older Elite chip — at least as configured here.

In terms of performance trends, each phone unsurprisingly posted its best result on the first try. However, the three CPU tests didn't cause either phone to noticeably throttle. The results for the second and third trials weren't too far off what we saw in the first run.

1,081 single-core / 6,777 multi-core

Geekbench 6 is widely used for smartphone comparisons and chip benchmarking, but Geekbench 7 is here. This updated test offers "both new and improved workloads to measure the performance of your CPUs and GPUs." In other words, it's better built to test how phones and chips will handle the demanding AI and media workflows used in 2026.

The results painted a different picture. While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip in the Razr Fold was better at multi-core performance in the Geekbench 6 test, the opposite was true using the Geekbench 7 benchmark. The older Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the Razr Ultra 2026 posted multi-core scores as much as over 1,000 points higher than the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip in the Razr Fold.

Single-core performance was about the same across the two phones and chips. The shift in multi-core performance does beg the question: Is the older Elite chip actually better-positioned for modern multitasking?

If you care about on-device AI performance, it seems having a newer chip is more important than having an "Elite" one. The base Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 averaged a Geekbench AI quantized score of 3,932, whereas the Snapdragon 8 Elite was further behind with an average score of 3,245.

GPU benchmark performance

Perhaps the most surprising part of this test was seeing the difference in GPU performance between the two Motorola flagships. I used 3D Mark's Wild Life Extreme, a 4K UHD gaming benchmark, to push each phone and processor to its limits in a one-minute test. The results were clear: the older Elite chip in the Razr Ultra 2026 is better for gaming and graphics-heavy tasks.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the Razr Ultra 2026 averaged 32.36 frames per second across the three minute-long trials. Meanwhile, the Razr Fold could only muster a 25.04 average FPS. The final scores showed the same result: the Razr Ultra 2026 averaged a 5,404 overall score, while the Razr Fold averaged a 4,181 overall score. I should note that I ran every test on the Razr Fold's cover display, so the foldable wasn't being penalized for having a larger internal screen.

Keen-eyed readers will notice that the Razr Ultra 2026's graphics performance really started to tail off in the third trial. Frame rates dipped under 30FPS, and the overall score was nearly 1,000 points lower than the first trial. This is a sign of thermal throttling, and it's a foreshadowing of what happened in our final test.

Before that, though, we have the Geekbench 7 GPU benchmark results. Oddly, each phone performed at its worst in the first trial run. Performance stabilized in the second and third runs, which is the opposite of what we're used to seeing. The Razr Fold had the highest-scoring trial, but the Razr Ultra 2026 finished with a higher average score.

Stress test results

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

My final test was 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme stress test. It's one of my favorite tests to run on phones, because it's excellent at showing how they will perform under sustained heavy loads.

Specifically, the Wild Life Extreme stress test forces phones to render high-resolution 4K UHD game visuals for 20 minutes. Rather than providing a single score at the end, the stress test shows how performance and temperature changed over time throughout the 20-minute test.

I planned to make a big chart showing how the Razr Fold and Razr Ultra 2026 performed under heavy loads, but I couldn't. That's because the Razr Ultra 2026 couldn't finish the stress test without overheating, and it didn't even come close.

Just a few minutes into each stress test attempt, the Razr Ultra 2026 overheated and force-stopped the Wild Life Extreme stress test. This is certainly a bad result, and it's a sign that the Elite chip might be a tad bit too powerful for the small form factor of a clamshell foldable.

The Razr Fold and its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip did complete the stress test with 56.5% stability. This isn't the best I've seen, but it isn't the worst either. The phone's highest stress test loop score was 4,946, and the lowest was 2,801, so there's a lot of fluctuation. It does thermal throttle, but hey, it finished.

The stress test results (or lack thereof) show why we can't just stop at classic benchmarks when evaluating phones and chips. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in the Razr Ultra 2026 is better in benchmarks, but the stress test failure proves you'll never be able to maximize it in sustained loads.

Verdict

(Image credit: Derrek Lee / Android Central)

Overall, it's clear that whether a phone has an Elite chip or not shouldn't factor highly into your purchasing decision. It's true that the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chip did outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chips on a few occasions. However, the newer design of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 helped it come out ahead in on-device AI performance. If anything, the takeaway here is that a base Snapdragon chip is better than an Elite chip that runs too hot for your phone to handle.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra could finally have some serious competition from Motorola

What you need to know

  • Leaked renders suggest Motorola is preparing a premium Moto Watch Ultra to rival Samsung's Galaxy Watch Ultra.
  • The Moto Watch Ultra is rumored to feature a 46mm stainless steel case with a rotating crown and LTE support.
  • The smartwatch is also expected to offer built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, IP68 protection, and 5ATM water resistance.
  • It's still unclear whether the Moto Watch Ultra will run Wear OS or Motorola's own smartwatch platform.

Motorola could be cooking up a proper Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra competitor.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra back in 2024 as its answer to the Apple Watch Ultra. Since then, the smartwatch has received a couple of meaningful upgrades and has established itself as one of the best premium Android smartwatches you can buy. Now, though, it looks like Samsung could soon have another competitor on its hands.

As revealed by The Mac Observer, the Moto Watch Ultra has leaked in a series of renders, giving us our first look at Motorola's upcoming flagship smartwatch.

From the leaked images, the Moto Watch Ultra looks very much like an upgraded version of the Moto Watch (2026), but with a much more premium design. It features a large circular display surrounded by a numbered bezel, similar to what we've seen on Samsung's Galaxy Watch Ultra.

The watch is also expected to feature a 46mm stainless steel case, giving it a noticeably more premium finish than Motorola's current smartwatch lineup. You can also spot a rotating crown on the side alongside an additional hardware button.

Similar to Samsung's flagship smartwatch, the Moto Watch Ultra is expected to offer LTE connectivity, built-in GPS, and Wi-Fi. The leaked specifications also point to an IP68 rating along with 5ATM water resistance.

The renders show the watch paired with a black leather-style strap featuring red stitching, although Motorola will likely offer additional color options at launch.

One big question still remains, though. Motorola moved away from Wear OS earlier this year, and it's currently unclear whether the Moto Watch Ultra will return to Google's smartwatch platform or continue using the non-Wear OS software.

Personally, though, I think launching a direct Galaxy Watch Ultra competitor without Wear OS would be a risky move, especially if Motorola plans to position it in the premium smartwatch segment.

Moto's Razr 2026 leaks with Swarovski crystals that shimmer like stars in space

What you need to know

  • Motorola is allegedly preparing another Swarovski crystal edition phone, and it looks like the Razr 2026 is being fitted.
  • The device is highlighted with a deep black colorway with shimmering crystals, diverging from Moto's previous white variants.
  • The Razr 2025 had its crystal edition debut in August last year, and there's a chance this could happen again.

Motorola's latest flip foldable, the Razr 2026, finds itself in leaks late this week that claim it's getting the Swarovski crystals treatment.

The folks at The Mac Observer pointed this out to us, highlighting a few alleged renders of a Moto Razr 2026 rocking a set of Swarovski crystals. Typically, Motorola's collaboration with Swarovski delivers a quilted design, studded with clear crystals. This will reportedly continue with the Razr 2026; however, there's a change: the special edition's gone dark.

The Razr 2026 could feature a black quilted back panel covered with crystals. The bar right above the phone's cover display is said to feature three crystals, while the rear panel offers 31. Everything else about the phone is rumored to remain the same, which would be the norm for this Moto x Swarovski collaboration. The Razr 2026 features a 6.9-inch Extreme AMOLED internal screen and a 3.6-inch cover display.

The publication surprises with more, offering a glimpse into the box's contents. Rumors claim Moto's Swarovski collaboration will include the Razr 2026, a clear phone case, a USB-C cable, and a 33W adapter. Nothing's been pinned down about a release date, but we have last year's to look back on.

Shine bright

Motorola has even created a Swarovski Edition variant of the Edge 70. The design language remains the same: a quilted back, studded with crystals. One major difference is that this collaboration is usually done in white. Now, as we've seen alleged for the Razr 2026, Moto's changing it up to black. For history's sake, the Razr 2025 had its Crystal Edition debut in August last year. Again, this was in a PANTONE Ice Melt color.

Swarovski and Motorola announced the phone together, stating consumers would find "35 precisely hand-positioned Swarovski crystals, including a larger one with 26 facets on the hinge." Paired with this brilliant phone was a premium crossbody case. The rumors for the Razr 2026 don't mention a crossbody case, only the clear case and other items inside the box. If Motorola is doing anything extra, perhaps we'll hear about it soon.

Motorola Moto G Max Debuts in India With Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 7,000mAh Battery and 3.5mm Headphone Jack

Igeekphone News August 8, 2026 — Motorola has officially introduced the Moto G Max in India, adding another battery-focused model to its G-series smartphone lineup. The new handset combines Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 platform with a large 7,000mAh battery, a 120Hz display, stereo speakers, and a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack.

Interestingly, the Indian Moto G Max is not identical to the model launched in Brazil earlier this year. While both phones share the same name, Motorola has apparently based the Indian version on a different existing device, resulting in significant differences in hardware.

Moto G Max Takes a Different Approach in India

Motorola launched a Moto G Max in the Brazilian market in June 2026. However, that version was essentially a rebranded version of the Moto G87, featuring a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset.

The newly announced Indian model follows a different design and hardware platform. It is reportedly based on the Moto G57 Power, while replacing its processor with Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 6s Gen 4.

This regional differentiation highlights Motorola’s strategy of adapting its G-series portfolio to different markets rather than offering exactly the same configuration worldwide.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Powers the Moto G Max

At the heart of the Indian Moto G Max is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. The platform is paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage, giving the phone a relatively modern memory and storage configuration for its segment.

Motorola is positioning the device around a combination of everyday performance and long battery life. The chipset should be capable of handling common tasks such as social media, streaming, web browsing, multitasking, and casual gaming without targeting the flagship performance segment.

The actual memory and storage capacities available in India will be important factors in determining the phone’s overall value.

7,000mAh Battery Promises Up to Three Days

Battery life is one of the biggest highlights of the Moto G Max.

The smartphone packs a 7,000mAh battery, and Motorola claims that a full charge can provide up to three days of battery life under suitable usage conditions.

A battery of this size should give the Moto G Max an advantage over many mainstream smartphones, particularly for users who spend significant amounts of time watching videos, browsing the web, using social media, or traveling without convenient access to a charger.

The actual endurance will naturally depend on factors such as screen brightness, network conditions, refresh rate, applications, and usage patterns.

6.72-Inch 120Hz FHD+ Display

The Moto G Max features a 6.72-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The higher refresh rate should provide smoother scrolling and animations compared with conventional 60Hz panels. Motorola also lists a peak brightness of up to 1,050 nits, which should help improve outdoor visibility in bright conditions.

Combined with the large screen size, the display makes the Moto G Max particularly suited to multimedia consumption and everyday productivity.

High-Resolution Camera System

Photography is handled by a multi-camera setup on the rear.

The phone reportedly features a 50-megapixel main camera alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The ultra-wide sensor provides a broader field of view for landscapes, architecture, group photos, and other situations where fitting more of a scene into the frame is useful.

For selfies and video calls, the device comes with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

While megapixel counts alone do not determine image quality, the combination gives the Moto G Max a reasonably versatile camera setup for a mid-range smartphone.

Stereo Speakers and Dolby Atmos

Motorola has also equipped the Moto G Max with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support.

The combination is designed to provide a more immersive audio experience when watching movies, streaming music, or playing games without headphones.

Perhaps more notably, Motorola has retained a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The company appears to be highlighting the connector as an unusual feature in its promotional messaging, referring to it as “alien technology.” With many modern smartphones moving toward USB-C and wireless audio, the inclusion of a traditional headphone port could appeal to users who still prefer wired earphones and headphones.

IP64 Protection

The Moto G Max also carries an IP64 rating, providing protection against dust and resistance to water splashes.

This does not make the smartphone waterproof or suitable for underwater use, but it should provide additional protection against everyday exposure to dust and light splashes.

A Different Moto G Max for Different Markets

One of the most interesting aspects of this launch is Motorola’s use of the Moto G Max name for different hardware configurations.

The Brazilian version launched in June was reportedly based on the Moto G87 and used a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset. The Indian model, meanwhile, is based on the Moto G57 Power platform and switches to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4.

For international consumers, this means the Moto G Max name should not necessarily be treated as a guarantee of identical specifications across markets.

Final Thoughts

The Indian Moto G Max is shaping up as a practical mid-range smartphone focused heavily on endurance and everyday usability. Its 7,000mAh battery, 120Hz FHD+ display, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, stereo speakers, IP64 protection, and 3.5mm headphone jack give it a feature set aimed at consumers who prioritize battery life and traditional smartphone functionality.

The three-day battery claim is likely to be the phone’s biggest selling point, while the return—or rather continued inclusion—of a 3.5mm headphone jack could make it particularly appealing to wired-audio users.

However, international buyers should pay close attention to regional specifications. Motorola’s decision to use different hardware under the Moto G Max name in Brazil and India means that the Indian model should be evaluated separately rather than assumed to be identical to its Brazilian counterpart.

Granola AI notepad launches on Apple Watch, bringing one-tap meeting notes to your wrist

Granola AI notepad on Apple Watch
Granola AI notepad on Apple Watch

AI note-taking startup Granola has expanded its popular meeting notepad to the Apple Watch, letting users capture and transcribe conversations with a single tap—no phone or laptop required.

The new watchOS app, which launched on July 28, 2026, targets in-person and on-the-go discussions such as walking one-on-ones, whiteboard brainstorms, and casual coffee chats. Users can start recording via a dedicated app or a watch face complication. The screen turns bright Granola green and plays a sound to confirm it’s listening. When the conversation ends, a second tap stops the recording; the audio syncs to the paired iPhone, where Granola’s AI processes it into structured notes complete with highlights, decisions, and action items. Those notes then appear across the user’s iPhone, Mac, or Windows devices.

The company designed the experience around the idea that “the best wearable is the one you’re already wearing.” Co-founder Chris Pedregal noted that the goal is to let people stay present in face-to-face meetings without pulling a phone from their pocket. Internal testing showed that once employees had access to the Watch app, a substantial portion of their mobile Granola usage shifted from iPhone to wrist.

Granola can record offline on the Watch; a connection is needed only when the audio syncs and notes are generated. The app also surfaces subtle haptic reminders for upcoming calendar meetings and works seamlessly with the existing iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and Windows versions of Granola. It requires watchOS 11 or later and the latest Granola iPhone app. Installation is straightforward through the Watch app on iPhone if it doesn’t appear automatically.

The launch arrives as dedicated AI note-taking hardware (pins, pendants, and similar devices) has proliferated. Granola deliberately chose to build for an existing wearable rather than create new hardware. It also follows the company’s earlier unicorn milestone after a $125 million Series C led by Index Ventures.

To mark the release, Granola collaborated with London-based weaver Nowshin Prenon on a limited run of handwoven Apple Watch straps. The Watch app itself is free to download and use via the Granola iOS app.

With the Apple Watch increasingly positioned as an AI-friendly device, Granola’s arrival underscores growing interest in discreet, always-available capture tools that keep the focus on conversation rather than technology. Users can try it on their next in-person meeting simply by updating the iPhone app and installing the Watch companion.
