Increase in global warming potential of atmospheric black carbon since 1750

Nature Geoscience, Published online: 08 September 2026; doi:10.1038/s41561-026-02085-z

The soot fraction of global black carbon emissions increased from 16% in 1750 to 35% in 2019, mainly driven by fossil fuel consumption, suggesting a higher warming potential per unit mass, according to an analysis of atmospheric measurements.

Membranolytic peptide programs immunogenic cell death for cancer therapy

Nature, Published online: 05 August 2026; doi:10.1038/s41586-026-10899-5

The synthetic-acid-responsive membranolytic peptide aMPC16-CA50 induces immunogenic membranolytic cell death in tumour cells, robustly potentiating immune checkpoint blockade therapy.

Low-temperature oxide-ion conduction in Aurivillius-type ((Na0.5Bi0.5)<i>n</i>–1Ti<i>n</i>O3<i>n</i>)(Bi2O2) phases

Nature Energy, Published online: 23 July 2026; doi:10.1038/s41560-026-02115-5

Solid oxide-ion conductors are essential for high-temperature electrochemical technologies, yet few materials maintain sufficient ion mobility at lower temperatures, where degradation is reduced and a broader range of materials can be used for auxiliary components. Here the authors introduce Aurivillius-type thin-film conductors that form periodic fast ion channels and achieve promising conductivity at 350 °C.
