Lamborghini says EV tech β€˜not mature enough,’ pushes first EV past 2030

15 July 2026 at 20:40

Lamborghini has doubled down on backing away from electric vehicles. A second executive now confirms the Lanzador will launch as a plug-in hybrid rather than an EV, and that the brand’s first fully electric car won’t arrive until after 2030.

The reason, according to the company, is that its customers β€œwere not willing to buy an electric car” and that the β€œtechnology is not mature enough.”

9 July 2026 at 13:52

The company also revealed the first clear look at the lineup’s debut model β€” a rugged, boxy extended-range SUV β€” in a set of official teaser posters.
