Lectric eBikes hits $1 billion in sales, surpasses 750,000 e-bikes

1 August 2026 at 01:04

The largest electric bicycle company in the US, Lectric eBikes, has just hit a pair of dizzying milestones. The much-vaunted e-bike maker reached $1 billion in sales on its e-commerce platform yesterday and sold its 750,000th electric bicycle. And perhaps even more stunning, it landed those two feats on the same day.

HMP’s new $3,999 electric scooter is the affordable, street-legal commuter the US needs

31 July 2026 at 16:24

The US electric two-wheeler market has no shortage of high-powered electric motorcycles and moped-style e-bikes. But if you’re looking for something in between – a practical, street-legal electric scooter built for everyday transportation rather than weekend thrills – your options are surprisingly limited.

That’s why the new HMP Lightning MK.II caught my attention.

Juiced Scrambler: Testing the best bang-for-your-buck moto-style e-bike

30 July 2026 at 22:40

Juiced Bikes is one of the most recognizable names in the history of electric bikes in North America. Long before e-bike classes and speed limits became commonplace, the company built a loyal following with powerful bikes that blurred the line between bicycles and mopeds. But after the brand collapsed in 2024, many assumed Juiced was destined to become little more than a nostalgic footnote.

Now it’s back under new ownership, and after spending several days riding the new Juiced Scrambler alongside Juiced’s fearless new leader Austin Gomes, I came away thinking the company is now going beyond trying to recapture the past. Instead, it’s trying to redefine what a legal, street-ready moped-style e-bike can be.

Huffy’s kids’ e-bike makes a compelling case for pedal-assisted riding

29 July 2026 at 15:45

For many parents, the idea of buying an electric bike for their kid might initially seem unnecessary. After all, didn’t we all grow up pedaling regular bikes without a motor?

But the more you look at today’s generation of young riders – and the role that e-bikes can play in getting them outside – the more compelling the argument becomes. Huffy is betting on exactly that with its Quantis Kids eBike, a 24-inch electric bicycle designed for riders aged 12 and up.

You’ve heard of shared e-bikes. Now check out Veo’s new shared e-trike

28 July 2026 at 21:48

If you’ve spent any time in a city with shared micromobility, you’ve probably seen fleets of rental e-bikes and e-scooters waiting on street corners. But one company is betting that the next evolution of shared transportation isn’t just another bike or scooter – it’s an electric trike.

E-bike bans in schools highlight the growing debate over freedom vs. safety

27 July 2026 at 14:32

Across the US, school districts are increasingly finding themselves caught in the middle of an uncomfortable question: Should they embrace e-bikes and e-scooters as tools that give students greater transportation independence, or restrict them because of growing safety concerns?

As these vehicles become a more common sight on school commutes, administrators are being forced to balance the freedom they provide families against rising crash statistics, reckless riding, and the reality that many American streets still aren’t particularly safe places for young riders.

Specialized just unveiled a new full-suspension e-bike, and here’s why it costs $13k

24 July 2026 at 18:23

Specialized is pushing the lightweight e-MTB segment even further today with the launch of the new S-Works Turbo Levo R Ultralight LTD, a premium electric mountain bike that tips the scales at just 18.8 kg (41.4 lb) while still packing the company’s latest full-power drive system.

This is the new 18-in-1 electric vehicle you can build yourself

24 July 2026 at 01:29

If you’ve ever wished you could buy one electric vehicle that could evolve with your needs instead of replacing it every time your use case changes, a Canadian company thinks it has the answer.

ENVO Drive Systems has unveiled its new Utility Personal Transporter (UPT), a modular electric vehicle platform that can be configured into as many as 18 different vehicle types, with even more combinations possible through optional accessories and upgrades.

I love e-bikes, but do they always need pedals?

23 July 2026 at 17:15

There are few recent advances in the transportation industry that have had as large of an impact on the shifting ways we travel around our cities than micromobility. I’m talking bikes, scooters, mopeds, self-balancing doo-hickeys, etc.

And there are a lot of hills I’m willing to die on in the micromobility world. But one of them is that we need to stop defining such vehicles by what they look like and start defining them by what they do.

Exclusive: Segway teases more electric bikes, including a street-legal next-gen Xyber

22 July 2026 at 14:00

Segway has made major strides in the e-bike space recently, but the company isn’t done expanding its electric bicycle lineup just yet.

Following the launches of the Myon commuter e-bike and MUXI cargo bike earlier this year, the company has confirmed to Electrek that it plans to unveil two additional e-bike models before the end of 2026, with both expected to become available in the third quarter.Β

Volkswagen enters the smart e-bike game with radar, cameras, HUD glasses, and more

21 July 2026 at 13:53

Volkswagen is expanding its presence in the e-bike world with a new lineup of premium electric bicycles developed under license by n+. But instead of chasing ever-bigger motors or batteries, the new models are leaning heavily into automotive-inspired safety technology, packing in an impressive suite of connected features aimed at making urban riding safer.Β

Will we soon see sodium-ion batteries on electric bikes?

20 July 2026 at 17:44

For the last couple of years, sodium-ion batteries have been one of the most talked-about β€œnext big things” in the battery world. They promise lower costs, improved safety, and reduced dependence on critical minerals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel. Naturally, that has led many riders to wonder whether the next generation of electric bicycles could ditch lithium altogether.

New HMP Flash brings affordable 75 MPH electric scooters to the US

18 July 2026 at 14:07

Electric scooters are everywhere in much of Europe and Asia, but they’ve always remained something of an oddity in the US market. While American riders have recently embraced electric bicycles and, to a measurably smaller extent, electric motorcycles, traditional seated scooters have struggled to gain traction in North America. Now San Francisco-based HMP Bikes is hoping to change that with its new HMP Flash, a high-performance electric scooter designed from the ground up for riders who rack up serious mileage.Β

How getting a Garmin watch changed my e-biking (and my fitness lifestyle)

17 July 2026 at 15:17

I’m not usually the kind of person who gets excited about wearing a watch. But I am apparently the kind of person who paces around my living room at a quarter to midnight because a tiny computer on my wrist informed me I was 200 steps short of today’s goal.

So here we are, with the story of how I got a Garmin watch to better analyze my bike riding (and my running), and ended up learning to love that cute little bully that now lives on my wrist.
