19 July 2026 at 23:30

Atualização 5.0.2 do app do MacMagazine traz de volta gesto para sair de posts e sincroniza favoritos entre dispositivos

19 July 2026 at 14:30

  • Retoques gerais na interface Liquid Glass;
  • Melhorias na marcação de posts como lidos/não lidos, incluindo o retorno de uma seção “Posts” nos ajustes do app;
  • A possibilidade de adicionar tíquetes ao Carteira (Wallet) diretamente pelo app;
  • Aprimoramentos gerais em acessibilidade.

Agradecimentos

Capturing the night sky in Kyrgyzstan

22 June 2026 at 18:08

On my way to Tash Rabat from Son-Kul, both in Kyrgyzstan, sitting on the comfortable seats of a minibus, I had to pinch myself just to realize that it wasn’t a dream. I could see green valleys on one side of the road and the rugged brown Pamir Plateau on the other. As someone whoContinue reading "Capturing the night sky in Kyrgyzstan"

11 June 2026 at 14:00

The recent cancellation of three geostationary satellites is another blow for insurers hoping their legacy cash cows would bring home much-needed income following a bruising run of claims. SES disclosed […]

Untangling the cosmic web

10 June 2026 at 20:23

There is a pattern found in nature. It is indeed the largest pattern there is. It is so vast that it spans the universe, filling up its observable volume. The pattern is made of individual units in the same way your body is made of cells — if each of your cells were a galaxyContinue reading "Untangling the cosmic web"

Why does one side of the Moon have a lot of craters, while the other does not?

8 June 2026 at 15:00

Why does one side of the Moon have a lot of craters, while the other side does not? Stephen LogesBrooksville, Florida When the first photos of the Moon’s farside were obtained, people usually expressed the difference between the back and the front in terms of “more craters on the back.” It might be better toContinue reading "Why does one side of the Moon have a lot of craters, while the other does not?"

What does the term ‘supersonic’ mean in astronomy?

1 June 2026 at 15:00

Occasionally I see references in Astronomy to the speed of something as “supersonic.” I’m having trouble reconciling this term with velocities typically found among astronomical objects. Wouldn’t “relativistic” be closer to the truth? Anything close to sonic speeds in Earth’s atmosphere wouldn’t cover much distance in outer space. Peter IanchiouTucson, Arizona One would certainly thinkContinue reading "What does the term ‘supersonic’ mean in astronomy?"

June 2026: What’s in the sky this month? Venus and Jupiter have a spectacular conjunction, and the Moon occults Venus

1 June 2026 at 06:01

Mercury reaches greatest elongation in the evening sky this month. Venus and Jupiter have a spectacular conjunction, and later in the month the Moon occults Venus. Meanwhile, Jupiter drops deeper into twilight as it sinks toward next month’s conjunction with the Sun. The morning sky hosts ever-more-prominent Saturn, while Mars and Uranus meet in Taurus.Continue reading "June 2026: What’s in the sky this month? June 2026: What’s in the Southern Hemisphere sky this month?

1 June 2026 at 06:00

June evenings offer a great chance to view three bright planets. Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury gather in the northwestern sky as darkness settles in, creating a grand sight to the naked eye and worthy targets through a telescope. Jupiter has been wandering through Gemini the Twins since the dawn of 2026. Shining at magnitude –1.9,Continue reading "June 2026: What’s in the Southern Hemisphere sky this month?"

Observe spring’s star clusters

29 May 2026 at 16:00

As winter’s brilliant stars slip toward the western horizon and the constellations of spring climb higher, Northern Hemisphere observers discover a quieter but richly rewarding sky. Spring is celebrated for its galaxies, yet our own Milky Way offers an equally compelling bounty of open and globular clusters. From youthful, loosely packed groups that still sparkleContinue reading "Observe spring’s star clusters"

Do we know how long it took the Sun to form?

While there is consensus that our Sun formed about 4.6 billion years ago from a molecular cloud of gas and dust, less has been known about how long the formation of the star...
