Tesla adds a car vacuum to a Supercharger for the first time

17 June 2026 at 13:58

Tesla has installed a free car vacuum right next to the charging stalls at a Supercharger station in Germany β€” believed to be a first for the network.

The setup lets owners clean out their cars while they charge, turning otherwise idle minutes into something useful.

BYD is bringing its 5-min β€˜Flash’ electric car charging to Canada

11 June 2026 at 00:04

BYD is preparing to bring its megawatt β€œFlash Charging” network, which can add about 250 miles (400 km) of range in 5 minutes, to Canada – the first confirmed deployment in North America.

The plan was revealed through a new BYD job posting in Toronto for a manager tasked with executing β€œBYD’s flash charging network expansion strategy and business growth across Canada.”

BYD is deploying 2.4x more charging power per month than Tesla

10 June 2026 at 17:36

BYD is building a charging network that makes Tesla’s Supercharger look slow β€” and it’s deploying it at a pace that could see it surpass Tesla’s global network within two to three years.

The Chinese automaker has already deployed over 5,700 Flash Charging stations in China in just a few months and just opened its first overseas stations in Europe. The chargers deliver up to 1,500 kW of power β€” three times what Tesla’s latest V4 Superchargers can do.

One Detroit-area Hyundai dealer wants $400 to charge your car

5 September 2026 at 15:20

Drivers opening an EV charging app for the first time today will be presented with thousands of so-called β€œpublic” chargers at local car dealers. Once they arrive, however, the store’s customers, store hours, security gates, and Wild West pricing can turn what should be a routine charging stop into a frustrating ordeal. For first-time EV drivers, that doesn’t just reflect poorly on the dealer – it reflects poorly on the EV, itself. And we need to fix it.

UPDATE 05SEP2026: another Hyundai store, another $418 bill.
