Cross-device betting: how platforms sync state seamlessly between Mac and iPhone?

11 August 2026 at 05:45

In an iPhone betting site, you place some selections on your way to work, and open the same sportsbook at home on your Mac. Ideally, your account, markets and where possible, unfinished wager should be available to continue. That continuity is achieved by a technology called state synchronization. It’s also a key factor that separates the best bookmakers and odds and cash-outs can change in seconds.

What is state syncing and why is it crucial for modern betting?

In software, “state” refers to the data that represents what is happening at a particular time. That means account balance, settled and open wagers, authentication, live odds, market availability, cash-out odds and sometimes unfinished bet slips for a sportsbook.

Consider live betting. You view it via your iPhone, and then go to the sportsbook in Safari on your Mac. The same bet placed should come back under My Bets and any cash out value should be the latest server calculation.

When it comes to live betting, out-of-date information is not good enough. Prices fluctuate rapidly, markets are suspended and cash-out prices can be adjusted post event. When the service is not accurately synced, duplicate work is created, outdated prices or conflicting balances are found. A good one considers each screen a lens on the common, authoritative text.

There is one exception: bets on an untouched bet slip are not always guaranteed, between devices. Some platforms retain a bank of draft selections in the server while others retain a portion of the state locally. Placed bets and balances have more consistent association with the account.

Under the hood: the core technologies powering the sync

The basic architecture is a logical source of truth in the center. This doesn’t always have to be one physical database. The general idea is the same with large systems; there should be no database or cache or event stream that makes the Mac or iPhone determine a user’s balance or whether a bet exists.

Usual flow begins with HTTPS API request authorization. The iPhone asks for a price, or wagers, the back-end validates the action, updates authoritative state and returns a result.

Efficiently refreshing information is not desirable when the information is constantly changing. WebSockets keep a two-way connection open between client and server. In the back end, instead of the Mac asking if anything changed, an odds update or the suspension of the market or changes in bet status can be pushed as soon as it is available. There are other streaming or polling options, but WebSockets work great for real-time API betting.

The client must have its own state layer. The interface components on the web can access the same store, and libraries like Redux can maintain a single store to avoid displaying inconsistent snapshots of the balance header, My Bets panel and bet slip. The same state-management principle can be followed for native iOS apps using the Apple frameworks.

Imagine a shared Google Doc: there is a server with authoritative data; the clients are attached and get changes and redraw their local copy.

Native apps vs. web apps: two paths to a unified experience

The native app advantage: leveraging Apple’s handoff feature

There is one more continuity layer: Apple Handoff. An activity can be represented by a native iPhone app that adds context to recreate it as well as make it eligible for Handoff for NSUserActivity. If there is a compatible Mac application, it can reopen in that application. No matter, Apple also allows an activity to include a Web URL, which Safari will then carry on with if there is no Mac app installed.

Theoretically, Apple Handoff betting could transfer an event page or a draft wager identifier from the iPhone to the Mac. Handoff is not a server sync. It announces where to re-establish the sync.

Push notifications also pop up when there’s updates to your bets and account, and native apps can also enable local authentication materials such as Face ID or Touch ID. However, do not assume handoff support, unless it is documented by an operator.

The web-first approach: responsive design and PWAs

For players, the term “betting apps for Mac” is synonymous with a sportsbook website available on the desktop. A responsive web app could show the same account in Safari or Chrome, while the iPhone is running the website or a native app.

There are progressive Web App techniques that can enable Home screen installation and web push on supported Apple software. The state synchronization is still provided by the backend APIs, WebSockets or similar. The benefit is that it can be accessed by all users without requiring additional Mac software.

Putting it to the test: which betting platforms excel at cross-device sync?

Public documents should be used to illustrate good examples of cross-device sportsbook design such as bet365, DraftKings and FanDuel.

bet365 offers sports betting via desktop and mobile and currently has an iPhone app available. It has a My Bets section which divides live, cash-out, unsettled and settled bets and the availability of cash-out also varies during events. In the regulated markets, the device-specific verification of location remains possible.

DraftKings now offers Sportsbook on iOS and desktop/laptop. It has similar help material for bet placement on app and desktop, and wagers placed are recorded in My Bets. DraftKings’ Live Activities for iPhone also adds a native Apple feature, tracking eligible wagers from the Lock Screen, which is overlaid on the server’s wager state.

FanDuel has an iPhone Sportsbook app and an online sportsbook. Its My Bets and Cash Out options display active wagers and wager value may fluctuate according to game play. It does not matter that each temporary screen isn’t mirrored, as long as the consequential account state is up to date.

That’s the difference between good cross-device betting and just a visual consistency. Sportsbook technology integrates reliable state, low latency updates, low latency front-end state management and device-specific security. Those layers combined, the transition from iPhone to Mac is unobtrusive, and that’s the idea.

What Every Household Should Know About WiFi Privacy?

11 August 2026 at 05:43

WiFi has become an essential part of modern life, as every household nowadays depends on a strong and reliable wireless network to connect to the internet. Much of our daily digital activity, from online banking and remote work to video streaming and online gaming, passes through a home WiFi router.

Most homeowners are concerned about internet speed, coverage, and router performance, and while that is important, WiFi privacy is equally important and should be taken into consideration. A poorly secured WiFi network can put everything at risk, expose personal information, allow unauthorized users to access your internet connections, and even provide malicious actors with opportunities to target connected devices.

For this reason, understanding how WiFi privacy works is important for every household, and below we have discussed some of the important things that every household should know about WiFi Privacy.

Know That Your WiFi Router Is the Gateway to Your Digital Life

Every internet-connected device in your house communicates through your WiFi router and accesses the internet. Your router is the device that manages all incoming and outgoing internet traffic. Because of this central role, your router is one of the most important devices that protects your digital privacy.

If someone manages to gain unauthorized access to your router or network, they may use your internet connection, attempt to access shared devices, interfere with smart home systems, monitor unencrypted network traffic, and change router settings through 192.168.1.1. By keeping the router secure and protected, you can protect every device connected to your network.

Use Strong WiFi Passwords

Having strong WiFi passwords is very important because these are the simplest, yet most effective privacy measures that you can take. WiFi routers are shipped with default passwords that are usually printed on labels attached to the router. Therefore, you should use a strong and secure WiFi password that should be long and unique, include uppercase and lowercase letters, contain numbers and symbols, and avoid common words or personal information.

You should also consider changing your WiFi password often, especially when you share it with guests or visitors, to keep the WiFi network secure.

Change the Default Administrator Credentials

Every WiFi router has an administrator account that can be accessed via 192.168.0.1, and it can be used to control the settings of the router. Many users, after installation, never change the default administrator account username and password, due to which attackers can log into the administrator account using the default login credentials.

If you change the administrator password, you can prevent unauthorized users from modifying WiFi settings, viewing connected devices, disabling security features, and installing malicious configurations. Right after installation, you should use a unique password that differs from your WiFi password to secure your administrator account.

Enable the Latest Wireless Encryption

Using the latest wireless encryption is very important to maintain the privacy of your WiFi network. Modern WiFi routers come with WPA3, which is currently the strongest widely available WiFi encryption standard. If WPA3 is not available, WPA2 should be used instead. Avoid using outdated and aged security protocols because they can lead to your being exploited and taken over by attackers.

By using the latest and modern encryption protocols, you can protect your personal communications, online banking sessions, passwords, file transfers, and smart home communications to improve household privacy significantly.

Review Connected Devices

Modern routers now allow you to see a list of devices that are currently connected to your network. You should check and review this list of connected devices to identify unknown devices, old devices you no longer use, unauthorised connections, and smart devices that should no longer be online.

If you notice any unfamiliar devices, you can change your WiFi password to secure the network and investigate further. You can also monitor connected household devices to improve bandwidth availability and disconnect devices not in use.

The SOUNDPEATS UU2 combine a comfortable open-ear design, strong bass, LDAC, Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint connectivity, and up to 42 hours of battery life in an affordable package.

I recently just started a new workout regimen, and while I love my AirPods Pro, they tend to work their way out of my ears when I’m active. There’s nothing quite as distracting as having to stop in the middle of a workout to push an earbud back into place, especially when I’m trying to stay focused on what I’m doing.

That got me looking at open-ear earbuds, particularly the clip-on style that doesn’t rely on an ear tip staying securely inside the ear canal. The SOUNDPEATSU@ UU2 caught my attention because they take that approach while still offering features I typically look for in a pair of wireless earbuds, including Bluetooth 6.0, LDAC support, multipoint connectivity, and a claimed 10 hours of battery life.

SOUNDPEATS UU2 Earbuds

I’ve also been curious about how well this style of earbud actually performs in everyday use. Leaving the ear canal open sounds appealing for workouts and other situations where I want to remain aware of my surroundings, but that design also raises some questions. How do they sound? Is there enough bass? How secure are they during exercise? And how much sound actually reaches the people around you?

I’ve spent some time with the SOUNDPEATS UU2 to find out whether these clip-on earbuds can deliver the stability and convenience I’m looking for without sacrificing the audio experience that has kept me coming back to the AirPods Pro.

About the SOUNDPEATS UU2

The SOUNDPEATS UU2 are open-ear clip-on earbuds designed to sit around the ear rather than inside the ear canal. This allows users to listen to music while still hearing some of the sounds around them.

The UU2 feature 12mm dual-magnet dynamic drivers with DynamicEQ technology, Bluetooth 6.0, and support for SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs. They also offer multipoint connectivity, physical button controls, IPX5 water resistance, and up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge. The included charging case extends total battery life to up to 42 hours.

With their lightweight clip-on design and open-ear construction, the UU2 offer an alternative to traditional in-ear earbuds. The rest of this review focuses on how that design performs in everyday use, including comfort, audio quality, fit, controls, and connectivity.

SOUNDPEATS UU2 Earbuds

User Experience

Getting started with the SOUNDPEATS UU2 is straightforward. Inside the box, you’ll find the earbuds, their charging case, a short USB-C charging cable, and a user guide. There’s also an app quick-start card and a SOUNDPEATS sticker sheet. The earbuds arrive stored in the charging case, so there isn’t much to do before getting started beyond charging them and connecting them to a device.

The first thing I noticed after taking the UU2 out of the case was just how different they feel compared with traditional earbuds. Rather than placing anything inside the ear canal, the UU2 use a clip that sits behind the ear with the speaker positioned just outside it. That design takes a little getting used to, but it also ended up being one of my favorite aspects of using them.

Comfort & Fit

The SOUNDPEATS UU2 took a little getting used to at first. Since the clip sits behind the ear, it feels noticeably different from traditional earbuds. Initially, I was very aware of the clip being there, but after wearing them for a while, that feeling became much less noticeable.

Once I got used to the design, I found the UU2 to be very comfortable. One of my favorite things about the open-ear design is that there isn’t a traditional earbud wedged into my ear canal. Instead, it feels almost like I have two small speakers sitting just outside my ears.

The earbuds have stayed securely in place during normal movement, and so far, I haven’t noticed any significant movement or shifting. They also work well with my glasses, and I haven’t experienced any pressure or irritation around my ears.

Putting them on and taking them off takes a little practice because of the clip design, but once I figured out the proper motion, it became easy to do. Overall, I have been very impressed with how comfortable the UU2 are, particularly for longer listening sessions.

SOUNDPEATS UU2 Earbuds

Audio Quality

I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the UU2. They sound great, and the bass response is particularly impressive for an open-ear design. I expected some compromise in the low end because the earbuds don’t create a seal inside the ear canal, but the bass is actually very strong.

Vocals are clear, and the mids and highs are well balanced. I’ve also been impressed with how the UU2 handle different volume levels. Whether I’m listening at a lower volume or turning things up, the audio remains clear and I haven’t noticed any significant distortion at higher volumes.

For an open-ear pair of earbuds, the overall listening experience has been better than I expected. They provide plenty of volume and bass without losing the clarity that I want when listening to music.

Everyday Use

The physical buttons are one area where I think the UU2 could be improved. The buttons themselves work well, but their location makes them a little awkward to press. It isn’t something that prevents me from using the earbuds, but it does take some getting used to.

The controls themselves are intuitive, and I especially like that they can be customized through the SOUNDPEATS app. Being able to change what the different button presses do gives me more control over how I use the earbuds and lets me configure them around my preferences.

SOUNDPEATS UU2 Earbuds

Connection speeds have also been good. The UU2 connect to my devices within a few seconds, so I haven’t had to wait around for them to establish a connection.

One of the biggest advantages of an open-ear design is being able to remain aware of what’s happening around me while listening. With the UU2, I can still hear ambient sounds such as my keyboard while I’m typing or my dog barking. However, the music remains the dominant sound, so I wouldn’t describe them as providing complete awareness of my surroundings.

I also haven’t had anyone complain about sound leakage while I’ve been using them. That said, because the speakers sit outside the ear rather than creating a seal, I can see how someone nearby could hear the earbuds if the volume were turned up high enough.

SOUNDPEATS UU2 Earbuds

Conclusion

The SOUNDPEATS UU2 have turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I went into this review primarily looking for a solution to a very specific problem: keeping earbuds securely in place while working out. What I found was a pair of earbuds that not only stay in place, but are also comfortable enough that I can see myself using them well beyond my workouts.

At $49.99, the SOUNDPEATS UU2 offer an impressive combination of comfort, sound quality, battery life, and features. For someone looking for an alternative to traditional in-ear earbuds, particularly for workouts or extended listening, the UU2 are easy to recommend.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 combines flagship performance, a versatile foldable display, and improved One UI 9, but its high price and ecosystem compromises make the decision more complicated.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 arrives at an interesting point in the evolution of foldable smartphones. Samsung has had several generations to refine the concept, and the Fold8 represents the company’s latest attempt to make a foldable feel less like an experimental alternative and more like a legitimate flagship. With a new generation of Snapdragon hardware, updated software, a redesigned chassis, and a growing collection of AI features, there is plenty here to evaluate beyond the novelty of having a phone that folds.

For this review, I wanted to look at the Fold8 as a smartphone I could actually live with rather than simply evaluating its specifications. That means looking at its performance, battery life, software, cameras, design, and everyday usability while also considering where it fits among the other flagship phones available today.

About the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s latest flagship foldable smartphone, combining the portability of a traditional smartphone with a 7.6-inch foldable display that provides a much larger workspace when opened. The Fold8 features a slimmer and lighter design than previous generations, a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover and inner display, and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor. It also includes a 50MP wide camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a range of Galaxy AI features designed to make multitasking, communication, photography, and everyday productivity easier.

With up to 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is positioned as both a premium smartphone and a compact productivity device. Its large inner display makes it particularly suited to multitasking, content consumption, document editing, and other tasks that benefit from additional screen space, while its redesigned hinge and thinner profile make it more practical to carry throughout the day.

User Experience

Specifications and benchmark numbers only tell part of the story with a device like the Galaxy Z Fold8. A foldable can have all the right hardware on paper, but what matters is how that hardware comes together when you actually use the phone every day. After spending time with the Fold8, there are several things about the experience that stood out to me.

First of all, the Galaxy Z Fold8 has a bright display that does an excellent job of hiding the crease in most lighting conditions. When the screen is on, the crease is almost impossible to see, which makes the display feel much more like a traditional smartphone screen than I expected.

The hinge also feels tight and well made. Samsung has put a significant amount of R&D into the hinge, including testing how many times it can be opened and closed, and that engineering is apparent in the way it feels during everyday use.

The glass on the front of the phone is nice, although it does not seem to be as scratch-resistant as the glass on the iPhone. If you take care of the phone or use a screen protector, I don’t expect this to be a major issue. The enter screen can potentially scratch, but this isn’t necessarily Samsung’s fault. It is simply where we are with current screen technology. We haven’t quite caught up with what we want to be able to do with glass while maintaining the durability we expect from it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

A Form Factor That Works

Using the wider form factor has been a joy for my eyes. I’ve been noticing that I have to squint when looking at text on my iPhone, but text renders comfortably on the Fold8’s larger display. Reading on this phone has been a joy.

The phone is smaller than an iPhone Pro Max when it is closed, yet the screen still feels like you’re reading from a much larger display. The combination of its compact closed form and large inner display is one of the things I have enjoyed most about using the Fold8.

If you’re an Apple fan, this form factor could be particularly interesting when Apple eventually releases its own foldable iPhone coming up in a month. The Fold8 provides a good example of what a larger foldable phone can offer without requiring you to carry a tablet-sized device.

Typing

Typing on the Fold8 has been a joy, both open and closed. The wider body when the phone is closed gives me a better grip while texting.

One of my concerns was that typing with the phone open would feel unwieldy, similar to typing on an iPad mini. Instead, the split design of the keyboard felt natural after just a few minutes of use and has been very comfortable.

That was one of the surprises of using the Fold8. I expected the larger screen to make typing more awkward, but Samsung’s approach to the keyboard makes good use of the additional screen real estate.

Setup and Connectivity

When setting up the phone, I wanted to test the transfer option between Android devices. Unfortunately, this is where I ran into a problem. The phone would get so far into the transfer process and then fail.

This may have been related to the Google Pixel I was transferring from, but I also ran into an issue when trying to transfer my eSIM. I was ultimately unable to complete the transfer and had to have a brand-new eSIM sent to me via email.

The setup experience wasn’t as seamless as I had hoped, although I don’t necessarily think the transfer issue can be attributed entirely to Samsung.

Samsung’s Magnetic Case

I’m currently using Samsung’s magnetic case with the Fold8. This case is designed only to fit on the back of the phone. It isn’t intended to protect the front or sides. Its primary purpose is to provide MagSafe-style charging and compatibility with magnetic accessories.

When using this case, the phone actually feels lighter than my iPhone Pro Max with a thin case attached to it. That’s an impressive difference considering how much more screen the Fold8 provides when opened.

The magnetic functionality also gives the Fold8 access to a range of charging options and MagSafe-style accessories, which adds another layer of flexibility to the phone.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

Performance and Software

Overall, I am very excited about the hardware in this phone. The Snapdragon processor is extremely fast, and the phone comes with a 12GB of RAM. If you keep the phone for more than a year, I expect that combination to make it a relatively future-proof device.

The software experience has also surprised me.

The last time I used a Samsung device, I believe we were on One UI 6 or 7, and I wasn’t a huge fan of it. With One UI 9 and Android 17, the experience feels much more polished. The software feels stable and much more visually appealing than I remember.

I can see how casual iPhone and Pixel users could be tempted to switch to Samsung because of the Fold8. There is a lot to like here, particularly when you combine the hardware with the improved One UI experience.

That said, there are small things I miss from iOS.

For example, I frequently take screenshots, and copying text from a screenshot is incredibly simple on an iPhone. I also miss being able to tap text within an image and select it directly. If this functionality is available in Android 17, I haven’t been able to find the setting that enables it.

These may sound like small things, but when you use a particular operating system for years, those small conveniences add up.

Ecosystem Matters

Having my phone work seamlessly with my Mac, iPad, Apple TV, and the other devices in my Apple ecosystem is another factor that is difficult to overlook. Those little conveniences can turn an otherwise excellent hardware experience into more of a challenge when you move outside of that ecosystem.

For someone who is already heavily invested in Apple, the Fold8 would require giving up some of those conveniences. The hardware may be compelling enough to make that worthwhile, but it is something potential buyers should consider before making the switch.

The same is true for Google users. If you enjoy the Google ecosystem, it is worth remembering that Google has an event coming up on Wednesday where it is expected to introduce its next generation of foldable devices, while Apple is expected to make its own announcements the following month.

Pixel vs. Fold8

For me, the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL has been my secondary phone. It is a great flagship testing phone and has worked well for my second number.

However, as my primary device, as much as I enjoy the new form factor and the speed of the hardware in the Fold8, it can’t push my iPhone into the secondary position. What it has done is knock the Pixel down a spot and taken its place as my secondary phone.

That puts me at something of a crossroads.

I enjoy the bare-bones approach of Google Pixel phones, but that more stripped-down version of Android can sometimes feel a little plain. I previously strongly disliked Samsung’s One UI, but the current version feels much more stable and visually appealing.

Ultimately, both devices are running Android, and your data belongs to either Samsung, Google, or both depending on the services you use. With the Google Pixel, you have options such as GrapheneOS, while there are also Android debloating tools that can be used on the Fold8 to remove some of the software you don’t want.

For example, tools such as Universal Android Debloater Next Generation and ADB AppControl can give experienced users more control over what is installed and running on their device.

For most people, the default experience will be perfectly fine. It’s simply nice to know that tools exist to give you more control if you need it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

Overall Feel

After spending time with the Fold8, I’m very impressed with the hardware. The display is bright, the crease is surprisingly easy to ignore, the hinge feels solid, and the phone is comfortable to hold and use.

The rounded corners are a nice touch, although I think a more pronounced curve could have made the phone slightly more comfortable to hold for long periods. This is a relatively minor complaint, but when you’re using a device this large for extended periods, small ergonomic details matter.

The biggest consideration for me isn’t whether the Fold8 is a good phone. It absolutely is. The question is whether its excellent hardware and improved software experience are enough to overcome the ecosystem conveniences I get from using an iPhone.

For me, the answer is no, at least as my primary phone. But the Fold8 has absolutely earned its place as my secondary device, replacing the Pixel 10 Pro XL in that role.

Benchmark Testing

To get a better understanding of how the Galaxy Z Fold8 performs beyond everyday use, I ran a series of industry-standard benchmarks covering CPU performance, GPU performance, artificial intelligence, everyday productivity, battery life, and sustained graphics performance. These tests provide a consistent way to measure the hardware and compare the results with Samsung’s published performance claims.

Benchmarks don’t necessarily represent how a phone will perform during every real-world task, but they can reveal the capabilities of the processor, GPU, NPU, memory subsystem, and battery. They can also help determine whether a device can maintain its performance under sustained workloads rather than simply delivering a high score during a short test.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

Geekbench 7

Geekbench 7 provides a standardized way to measure CPU and GPU performance. The CPU tests are particularly useful for evaluating the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy’s ability to handle both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads. Single-core performance is important for many everyday tasks, while multi-core performance becomes more important when several demanding processes are running simultaneously.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 produced a single-core score of 3,056 and a multi-core score of 9,629.

Geekbench 7 CPU

  • Single-Core: 3,056
  • Multi-Core: 9,629

These results provide a useful baseline for the Fold8’s overall processing capability and help demonstrate whether Samsung’s flagship hardware delivers the level of performance expected from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy.

Geekbench 7 also includes a GPU compute test. Rather than measuring traditional gaming performance, this test evaluates how effectively the GPU handles compute workloads.

Geekbench 7 GPU

  • OpenCL: 17,377

The OpenCL result gives us another way to evaluate the Adreno GPU and provides a useful point of comparison with other flagship smartphones. While it shouldn’t be treated as a direct representation of gaming frame rates, it helps establish how much computational power is available for GPU-accelerated workloads.

Geekbench AI

The Fold8’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy isn’t only designed to deliver high CPU and GPU performance. Samsung also places considerable emphasis on AI capabilities, making Geekbench AI an especially relevant benchmark for this phone.

Geekbench AI measures machine-learning performance across different hardware acceleration paths. Running the benchmark using the CPU, GPU, NNAPI, and Qualcomm’s QNN framework helps show how the phone handles AI workloads depending on which processing hardware is being used.

CPU

Geekbench AI CPU

  • Single Precision: 2,552
  • Half Precision: 4,109
  • Quantized: 6,153

The CPU results provide a baseline for AI workloads without relying on the phone’s dedicated AI acceleration hardware. These numbers are useful for understanding how the Snapdragon processor handles AI tasks when they are executed through the general-purpose CPU.

GPU

Geekbench AI GPU

  • Single Precision: 2,984
  • Half Precision: 4,576
  • Quantized: 4,082

The GPU results demonstrate how the Fold8 handles AI workloads using its graphics processor. This is particularly relevant for applications that can take advantage of GPU acceleration rather than relying entirely on the CPU or dedicated NPU.

NNAPI

Geekbench AI NNAPI

  • Single Precision: 670
  • Half Precision: 646
  • Quantized: 1,476

NNAPI, or Android’s Neural Networks API, provides a standardized way for Android applications to access available neural-network acceleration hardware. These results help show how AI workloads can perform through Android’s broader machine-learning framework.

QNN

Geekbench AI QNN

  • Single Precision: 659
  • Half Precision: 27,041
  • Quantized: 67,208

The QNN results are particularly interesting because QNN is Qualcomm’s neural-network framework and is designed to take advantage of Qualcomm’s AI hardware. The dramatic increase in the half-precision and quantized results compared with the CPU, GPU, and NNAPI results highlights the difference between general-purpose AI processing and the specialized acceleration available through Qualcomm’s QNN framework.

The 67,208 quantized QNN score is especially noteworthy. Quantized models use reduced numerical precision to make AI workloads more efficient, which is important for running AI features locally on a smartphone while minimizing power consumption and processing overhead.

These results don’t mean that every AI application will achieve anything close to the Geekbench AI scores. Applications use different models and APIs, and software optimization plays a significant role. However, they provide evidence that the Fold8 has the specialized hardware needed to support the local AI processing Samsung is promoting with this generation of Galaxy devices.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

PCMark for Android

PCMark provides a different perspective than Geekbench because its Work benchmark is designed around common smartphone tasks rather than isolated processor workloads.

For this test, the Galaxy Z Fold8 achieved a PCMark Work 3.1 score of 20,546.

PCMark Work 3.1

  • Overall: 20,546

PCMark Work 3.1 evaluates tasks representative of everyday smartphone use, including web browsing, document and data manipulation, image editing, and other productivity-oriented workloads. This makes it useful for putting the synthetic CPU and GPU results into a more practical context.

A strong Geekbench score tells us that the processor is powerful. A strong PCMark score helps demonstrate how that hardware translates into everyday productivity.

3DMark

To evaluate the Galaxy Z Fold8’s sustained graphics performance, I ran 3DMark’s Wild Life Extreme Stress Test. Unlike a standard benchmark that measures peak performance during a relatively short workload, the Stress Test repeatedly runs the same demanding graphics workload to determine how well the phone maintains performance as it heats up.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 produced the following results:

3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test

  • Best Loop Score: 5,949
  • Lowest Loop Score: 3,037
  • Stability: 51%

The most notable result here is the difference between the best and lowest loop scores. The Fold8 started with a score of 5,949 but dropped to 3,037 during the later loops. That’s a reduction of approximately 49% from its best performance.

The resulting 51% stability rating indicates that the phone was unable to maintain anywhere near its initial level of GPU performance throughout the extended workload. This is important because it demonstrates the difference between peak performance and sustained performance. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy is capable of delivering very strong graphics performance, but when the GPU is pushed continuously, thermal limitations have a significant impact on how much of that performance can be sustained.

This doesn’t mean the Fold8 will constantly operate at half of its benchmark performance during normal use. Everyday tasks typically don’t place the same continuous load on the GPU that a stress test does. Gaming sessions, however, can create workloads that are much closer to this type of sustained testing, particularly with demanding 3D titles.

For Samsung’s performance claims, the result provides an important qualification. The Fold8 clearly has the hardware necessary to deliver flagship-level peak performance, but the Stress Test shows that sustained performance is considerably lower than peak performance under prolonged heavy workloads. That’s not unusual for a thin, powerful smartphone, but it is something potential buyers should keep in mind if they intend to use the Fold8 for extended gaming or other graphics-intensive tasks.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

What the Results Tell Us

Taken together, these benchmarks show that the Galaxy Z Fold8 has the hardware to deliver a true flagship-level experience. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy provides strong CPU and GPU performance, while the Geekbench AI results, particularly through QNN, demonstrate the potential of Qualcomm’s dedicated AI hardware. The PCMark Work 3.1 score of 20,546 also shows that this performance translates well to everyday productivity workloads.

The 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test provides an important look at what happens when that hardware is pushed for an extended period. While the Fold8 achieved a strong Best Loop Score of 5,949, its Lowest Loop Score fell to 3,037, resulting in 51% stability. This shows that sustained GPU performance is considerably lower than peak performance under a prolonged, demanding workload. While most users won’t place this kind of continuous load on the phone, it is worth considering for extended gaming sessions or other graphics-intensive tasks.

No benchmark can completely reproduce the way someone uses a smartphone. However, by combining CPU, GPU, AI, productivity, and sustained-performance testing, we get a much more complete picture of what the Galaxy Z Fold8’s hardware is capable of. The results largely support Samsung’s positioning of the Fold8 as a high-performance flagship, while also showing that peak performance and sustained performance are two very different things.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 has left me with a somewhat unexpected conclusion. I went into this review expecting to evaluate another generation of Samsung’s foldable hardware, but I came away genuinely impressed by how mature the overall experience has become. The hardware is excellent, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy provides plenty of performance, the displays are impressive, and One UI 9 is considerably more polished than I remember from my previous experiences with Samsung.

The Fold8 also demonstrated why foldable smartphones continue to be interesting. The larger inner display isn’t simply a novelty. For reading, typing, multitasking, and working with content, it can fundamentally change how you use a smartphone. At the same time, the device remains relatively compact when closed, making the form factor surprisingly practical.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

The biggest drawback is the price. The Fold8 is an expensive smartphone, and while the hardware helps justify some of that premium, buyers need to decide whether the foldable form factor provides enough additional value to warrant the cost. The 3DMark results also show that while the Fold8 delivers excellent peak performance, sustained GPU performance can drop considerably under prolonged workloads.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t have to be. What matters is that Samsung has continued refining the concept rather than simply making a phone that folds. The Fold8 feels like a mature flagship with a different approach to what a smartphone can be. For users who want a larger screen without carrying a tablet, it is one of the most compelling options available. For those deeply invested in another ecosystem, however, the decision is more complicated.

For me, the Fold8 doesn’t replace my iPhone. It does something arguably more interesting: it made me enjoy using a Samsung phone.

Why Game Themes Matter More Than Ever in Mobile Gaming

10 August 2026 at 13:11

Pick up almost any smartphone today and you have access to more games than you could realistically play in a lifetime. That abundance is great for players, but it creates a problem for developers: how do you get someone to notice your game when there are thousands of other options competing for the same attention?

The answer isn’t always a new mechanic or a longer list of features. Sometimes, it’s the setting.

A good theme can tell you a surprising amount about a game before you ever play it. The colors, characters, artwork, music, and even the way menus are designed can give a game its own personality. On a phone, where players are often browsing quickly and deciding what looks interesting at a glance, that first impression can matter quite a bit.

A familiar idea can make a game easier to remember

There’s a reason certain themes keep showing up in games. Fantasy, mythology, exploration, science fiction, history, and adventure are all familiar territory, but that familiarity isn’t necessarily a weakness.

When a player sees a game built around an ancient Egyptian setting, for example, they already have some idea of what they’re getting into. They may recognize the visual style, symbols, characters, or general atmosphere immediately.

That doesn’t mean the game has to be predictable. In fact, taking a familiar idea and putting a different spin on it can be more interesting than creating something completely unfamiliar.

The theme essentially gives developers a starting point. What they do with it is what makes the game memorable.

Smartphones have changed the way games make an impression

Mobile gaming is also different from sitting down at a PC or console.

A phone might be used for gaming while someone is waiting for an appointment, sitting on the couch, riding public transportation, or simply taking a few minutes away from work. There isn’t necessarily a long introduction or an hour available for the player to become invested in a fictional world.

That puts more pressure on the visual design.

A strong theme can communicate the personality of a game almost instantly. A colorful fantasy world feels very different from a dark sci-fi setting, even if the underlying gameplay is relatively simple.

Modern phone displays also give developers plenty of room to make those details stand out. High-resolution screens, fast processors, and increasingly capable graphics hardware allow mobile games to look considerably more sophisticated than they did just a few years ago.

The theme can be as important as the mechanics

Gameplay will always matter. A great-looking game that isn’t fun won’t keep people playing for long.

At the same time, many mobile games share basic mechanics. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Familiar gameplay can make a title easy to pick up, particularly for someone who only has a few minutes to play.

The theme is often what gives that familiar gameplay its identity.

Consider two games built around essentially the same basic concept. One might put the player in a futuristic space station, while another sends them into a fantasy kingdom. The mechanics could be similar, but the two experiences can feel completely different because of everything surrounding them.

That’s one reason developers spend so much time on art direction and presentation. They’re not just making the game look attractive. They’re establishing what makes it feel like that game.

Slot games are a good example

Mobile slot games provide an interesting example of how much a theme can change the character of a familiar type of game.

The basic idea behind a slot machine is well established, so developers have to find other ways to make individual titles stand out. Themes are one of the most obvious ways to do that.

A game might use an ancient civilization as its backdrop, while another could focus on treasure hunting, fantasy characters, mythology, or an entirely fictional world. The symbols, animations, sounds, and bonus features can all be designed around that central idea.

For anyone interested in seeing just how varied these approaches can be, there are plenty of options available to explore mobile slot games.

The appeal isn’t necessarily the mechanics alone. For many players, the setting and presentation are part of what makes one title more interesting than another.

Good themes don’t stop at the artwork

There’s also a difference between putting a nice background behind a game and actually building a game around a theme.

The latter tends to be much more effective.

When the characters, sound effects, animations, symbols, menus, and rewards all fit the same concept, the game feels more cohesive. Even small details can make a difference. A fantasy game that uses appropriate sound effects and animations throughout the interface feels more intentional than one that simply places a castle image behind the main screen.

This is where good design becomes noticeable. Players may not consciously identify every individual detail, but they recognize when everything seems to belong together.

Personal interests play a role, too

There’s another reason themes have become useful: people have different tastes.

One player might be fascinated by mythology. Another might prefer science fiction. Someone else might gravitate toward horror, historical settings, sports, or lighthearted cartoon-style characters.

With so many games available, players don’t necessarily have to settle for whatever happens to be popular. They can look for games that fit their interests.

That creates an opportunity for developers to target specific audiences without reinventing the entire concept of mobile gaming. A strong theme can make a familiar style of game feel much more relevant to a particular group of players.

The best themes become part of the identity

A theme can’t rescue a game with poor performance or frustrating gameplay. It can, however, make a well-designed game easier to notice and easier to remember.

That’s increasingly important as the mobile gaming market becomes more crowded.

The next time you browse a selection of mobile games, pay attention to what catches your eye first. It may not be the description of the gameplay or a list of technical features. It may simply be a character, a color scheme, a setting, or a visual style that makes you stop scrolling.

That is the real value of a good theme. It gives a game an identity before the first tap, and when there are seemingly endless choices available, having an identity can go a long way.

From VPNs to SASE: Shift Toward Integrated Cloud Security Gains Momentum

10 August 2026 at 13:08

For a long time, the default answer for secure remote access was simple: give everyone a VPN. You installed a client on each laptop, pointed it at a gateway in the office, and once it connected, the user was “on the network.” That setup worked reasonably well when most employees sat in the office, used company-owned Windows machines, and relied on a few internal applications in a single data center.

Now look at a modern team that runs heavily on Mac.

Designers, marketers, founders, and a growing number of developers prefer macOS. They like the stability, the battery life, and the tools that feel native to the platform. They also do not sit in one place. Some work at home, some in coworking spaces, and some move between cities with a MacBook in their backpack. The tools they rely on live across Google Workspace, Slack, Figma, GitHub, and dozens of other cloud applications.

In that world, the old VPN model starts to feel like a poor fit.

Why VPNs Struggle With Modern Mac Usage

On paper, a VPN is straightforward. It creates an encrypted tunnel from your Mac to the company network. In practice, especially on macOS, a few problems quickly become apparent.

First, the client software often feels clumsy. Many VPN tools were built years ago and then slowly adapted over time. On a Mac, that can mean odd bugs, kernel extensions that break after a system update, or background processes that drain battery.

Second, VPNs work on a simple idea. Once the tunnel is active, your device is treated as if it were sitting inside the office. That means a lot of trust, even if the Mac is a personal machine or shared with others at home. If a password is stolen, an attacker might get broad access to internal services.

Third, routing everything through a central VPN gateway can hurt performance. Imagine a user on a MacBook in one country connecting through a VPN endpoint in another, only to reach a cloud app hosted somewhere else again. That kind of traffic pattern is common today, and it adds noticeable delay.

These issues are easier to ignore when you have a small office and one or two internal tools. As your Mac base grows and as more of your work shifts to the cloud, the friction becomes harder to live with.

What SASE Brings To The Table

Secure Access Service Edge, usually shortened to SASE, is an attempt to align security with the way people actually work now. Instead of dragging every Mac into a private network and then pushing traffic around from there, SASE puts the security controls closer to the user and the application.

A typical setup often looks like a hybrid model. You install a light agent or configuration on the Mac. Traffic from that device is sent to a nearby cloud point of presence. At that edge, different security functions run, such as secure web filtering, zero trust access to private apps, and threat detection. Every request can be evaluated based on the user, the device, and the destination.

The key difference is simple. Traditional VPNs answered the question, “Is this laptop inside the network or outside the network?” A SASE approach focuses on “Who is this user, and what is the state of this Mac?” And which app are they trying to reach?”

Better Fit For Mixed and BYOD Mac Environments

Many companies no longer issue the same locked-down laptop to everyone. Designers might bring their own MacBook Pro. Contractors and freelancers often use personal devices. Founders and early employees may use whatever hardware they already had. This kind of bring-your-own-device environment is common in teams that love macOS.

Legacy VPN setups do not handle this mix gracefully. Once a device connects, it frequently has broad access. If that Mac is missing security patches, or if other family members also use it, the risk goes up quickly.

With SASE, you can treat Macs differently based on posture and role. A company-issued Mac can receive full access to sensitive internal tools. A personal Mac can be allowed access only to a narrow set of resources. Access can depend on factors such as operating system version, disk encryption, or the presence of endpoint protection.

This flexible model lines up much better with the real world, where not every Mac is identical and not every user should see the same things.

Smoother Day-to-Day Experience for Mac Users

Another reason the shift from VPNs to SASE is gaining ground is that it often feels better for end users. People on Macs are quick to notice when a tool slows them down or behaves oddly.

In an SASE model, traffic from a Mac can reach cloud applications through the closest edge location. This usually reduces the number of long, inefficient routes through a single office gateway. Many users notice that web pages load faster, video calls drop less often, and file sync tools behave more smoothly.

Authentication can improve as well. Instead of juggling multiple VPN profiles and passwords, users can sign in with a single identity provider and let that drive access decisions. When done well, security becomes part of the background rather than a visible obstacle.

How The Shift Plays Out In Real Teams

For most organizations, the transition from VPNs to SASE is not a single, large cutover. It happens in stages and usually starts with the teams that are already heavy Mac users.

A common pattern looks like this:

  1. Identify a group that mostly lives on Mac and cloud tools. This might be a design team or a product team.
  2. Deploy a SASE agent or configuration on their Macs, and start with web filtering and simple security policies.
  3. Move a few internal applications behind zero-trust-style access instead of exposing them only through the VPN.
  4. Tune policies based on feedback. If designers feel blocked opening certain sites or tools, adjust the rules in a controlled way.
  5. As confidence grows, expand coverage to more Mac users and more apps, and slowly reduce reliance on the old VPN infrastructure.

By the time this process is complete, the VPN is still present, but it has become a backup path rather than the main road.

A Security Model That Matches Mac-First, Cloud-First Work

Ultimately, the shift from traditional VPNs to integrated cloud security is about aligning with how people already work. Users are on Macs and other devices that move around all day. Applications live in SaaS platforms and public cloud services, not only in a rack in the office.

VPNs were built for a world where remote access was the exception and the office network was the center of gravity. That world is fading. A SASE approach fits better with today’s reality. It connects the right person on the right Mac to the right application, with policies that follow the user instead of being tied to one physical network.

That is why so many teams that rely heavily on macOS are quietly shifting away from a VPN-only mindset and leaning into SASE. It is not just a new label. It is a different, more natural way to think about security in a Mac-first, cloud-first era.

Discover how the UPLIFT Standing Desk V3 4-Leg transformed a traditional home office with exceptional stability, premium craftsmanship, and ergonomic sit-stand functionality.

For many people, a desk is simply a place to put a computer. As long as it holds a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, it gets the job done. That’s exactly how my fiancé’s mother’s husband (Ron) approached his home office for years. Like countless others, he used a traditional manufactured particleboard computer desk that provided a dedicated workspace but little else. It was functional, affordable, and met his needs for everyday productivity.

Over time, however, those hours at the desk began to add up. Whether checking email, browsing the web, managing finances, or simply spending time on the computer, he often remained seated for extended periods. The desk itself wasn’t uncomfortable, but it also wasn’t designed to adapt to the person using it. Sitting in the same position day after day can contribute to stiffness, fatigue, and poor posture, especially when there are few opportunities to change positions throughout the day.

Unboxing and Assembly

Having assembled several UPLIFT desks in the past, including the V3 Standing Desk, the assembly process felt immediately familiar. The desk arrived in multiple well-protected boxes, with the solid walnut butcher block desktop and steel frame packaged securely to prevent damage during shipping.

Because of the desk’s weight, I needed assistance bringing the boxes into the house. Once everything was unpacked, however, I completed nearly the entire assembly by myself. The instructions were easy to follow, the hardware was clearly labeled, and many of the components arrived partially assembled to simplify the process.

UPLIFT Desk 4-Leg V3 Standing Desk
UPLIFT Desk 4-Leg V3 Standing Desk

From start to finish, assembly took approximately one hour and 42 minutes. The only point where I needed another person was flipping the completed desk upright. Between the 1.5-inch solid walnut desktop and the substantial four-leg frame, this is definitely a two-person task.

To make the desk easier to reposition in the future, I also installed the optional Soft Roll Casters. Given the overall weight of the completed desk, this proved to be a worthwhile addition.

Creating a Better Workspace

Once assembled, we moved everything from his previous desk to the new workspace. His setup is relatively straightforward, consisting of a 32-inch monitor, keyboard, mouse, fiber gateway modem, and various everyday office supplies. His desktop tower remains on a stand beside the desk, while the printer sits on a nearby file cabinet.

Although his workstation isn’t particularly elaborate, the larger work surface immediately made the space feel more organized. There was plenty of room for his computer equipment while still leaving open workspace for paperwork and other daily tasks.

To complete the setup, we added several UPLIFT accessories, including the DuoMount monitor arm, Cup Holder & Tumbler, Writing Desk Pad, FlexMount Cable Manager, and a six-outlet mountable surge protector. Together, these accessories created a cleaner and more organized workspace without adding unnecessary clutter.

Everyday Use

The biggest improvement that Ron has seen wasn’t any single feature. It was how much more substantial the entire workstation felt. He thinks it’s extremely well-built and thanks to the casters, it’s very easy to move. He also really likes the cup holder and the extra outlet box. They are both easy to relocate, which Ron appreciates.

The electric motors were equally impressive. Despite the desk’s size and weight, transitions between sitting and standing were smooth and surprisingly quiet. The Advanced Keypad makes it easy to adjust heights with the press of a button.

The desk is remarkably stable. Whether typing, using the mouse, or raising and lowering the desktop, the four-leg frame remained exceptionally solid. Compared to the manufactured desk it replaced, there was very little movement, giving the entire workspace a premium feel.

The solid walnut butcher block desktop also made a noticeable difference. Beyond its attractive appearance, the thicker work surface adds to the desk’s overall feeling of quality and durability.

Cable Management

One area that often gets overlooked during a desk upgrade is cable management. Using the FlexMount Cable Manager together with the mountable surge protector made organizing the various power and monitor cables surprisingly easy. Once everything was connected, the underside of the desk remained neat and organized, helping the finished workspace look much cleaner than the previous setup.

Standing Throughout the Day

Perhaps the biggest change wasn’t the desk itself but the flexibility it introduced into the daily routine. Instead of remaining seated for hours at a time, he now has the option to alternate between sitting and standing whenever he chooses. Because the desk adjusts quickly and quietly, changing positions takes only a few seconds. That convenience encourages movement throughout the day without interrupting whatever task is at hand.

Overall Impressions

Replacing a traditional manufactured desk with the UPLIFT Standing Desk V3 4-Leg transformed the workspace in ways that extend beyond aesthetics. The desk feels exceptionally well built, provides outstanding stability, and offers a level of flexibility that simply wasn’t possible with a fixed-height desk.

It is certainly a premium product, and its weight reflects the quality of its construction. Adding the Soft Roll Casters was a practical decision that makes repositioning the desk much easier whenever necessary.

UPLIFT Desk 4-Leg V3 Standing Desk

While the investment is considerably higher than that of a typical computer desk, the combination of premium materials, thoughtful engineering, and the ability to support healthier working habits makes it a meaningful upgrade for anyone who spends long hours at a desk, even if their daily computer use consists primarily of routine productivity tasks.

Conclusion

Upgrading from a traditional manufactured computer desk to the UPLIFT Standing Desk V3 4-Leg proved to be much more than a cosmetic improvement. While the old desk provided a functional place to work, the UPLIFT transformed the workspace into one that is more comfortable, organized, and adaptable to long hours at the computer.

UPLIFT Desk 4-Leg V3 Standing Desk

Throughout our time with the desk, its exceptional stability stood out as its defining characteristic. The four-leg frame remained remarkably solid whether typing, adjusting the monitor, or transitioning between sitting and standing. Combined with the premium solid walnut butcher block desktop, quiet motors, and thoughtful accessory ecosystem, the desk consistently delivered a polished user experience.

UPLIFT Desk 4-Leg V3 Standing Desk

The UPLIFT Standing Desk V3 4-Leg is undoubtedly a premium investment, but its build quality, customization options, and long-term durability help justify the price. Like most people with yards, I have a love/hate relationship with yard maintenance. After more than 30 years of mowing, I can honestly say it’s definitely not my thing. I know a lot of people take pride in maintaining their lawns, but I just don’t know how they find the time. There has to be an easier way to get a nicely manicured lawn without sacrificing so much time or dealing with the Midwest heat.

That’s where the Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 came into my life. I had looked at several robotic lawn mowers over the years, but I was always scared off by the price and concerns about reliability. I’d read reviews and heard plenty of horror stories. After a lot of consideration, I finally decided to give the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 a try.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

Before it even arrived, I had three main criteria I wanted to judge it on: cost versus benefit, ease of use, and overall design.

Why I Chose the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500

The first consideration was cost, or more accurately, cost versus benefit.

Around $2,000 sounds like a lot of money, and it certainly is. But when you factor in the cost of buying and maintaining mowing equipment, along with the value of your own time, it starts to make more sense. If you currently pay for lawn service, the math gets even more interesting. For an average-sized yard with weekly mowing over a 16 to 18 week season, the investment can come surprisingly close to paying for itself, depending on where you live.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

It’s definitely a significant upfront investment, but if you’re already shopping for a robotic mower, you know they aren’t inexpensive. Compared to similar premium models, I found the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 to be priced right in the middle of the market.

Features and Specifications

Before I got too far into testing the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500, I wanted to look at what made this mower different from the other robotic lawn mowers I had considered.

The biggest thing that caught my attention was that there are no boundary wires to bury and no external antenna to install. The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 uses a combination of 360° LiDAR and dual-camera AI vision to understand the yard and create its mowing map. For someone who doesn’t want to spend a weekend digging trenches just to install a robot mower, this is a huge advantage.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is designed for yards up to 0.37 acres and can manage up to 20 different mowing zones. Since every yard has its own challenges, having the ability to create multiple zones is helpful if you have separate lawn areas, different grass types, or areas you want the mower to avoid.

Another big feature is the all-wheel-drive system. The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 can handle slopes up to 80% (38.6°), which is impressive for a residential mower. My yard definitely gave it some challenges, especially with my steep ditch, and while the mower handled the incline well, the muddy areas were still a challenge.

For cutting, Mammotion included both a main cutting disc and a dedicated edge-cutting disc. The edge cutter is designed to get closer to fences, walls, and flower beds, which means less time spent following behind with a string trimmer.

Setup Experience

The second thing I wanted to evaluate was ease of use. How easy would it be for an average person to get it out of the box, set it up, and start mowing?

Some robotic mowers seem like they require a degree from NASA, SpaceX, or MIT just to get started. I’m none of those. While I consider myself fairly tech-savvy, there are still some areas where I struggle.

Fortunately, the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 wasn’t one of them.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

Right out of the box, the mower comes fully assembled. There was no feeling like I was putting together an IKEA electronics kit. I simply unpacked everything and laid it out next to the large, easy-to-follow Quick Guide. Although Mammotion includes a detailed instruction manual, I honestly found the Quick Guide to be all I needed.

I downloaded the Mammotion app from the App Store, created an account, and started following the setup instructions. The app is straightforward and includes a digital user guide, FAQs, maintenance information, tutorial videos, and even winter storage instructions. It doesn’t double as a snowblower, though. That would’ve been pretty cool. Maybe in a future version.

Setting up the charging station was simple. You just need a flat location with access to power. My LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 arrived with roughly a 60% battery charge, so I was able to connect it using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi almost immediately. I have an outdoor router, so the connection process was quick and painless, although it’s recommended to have your router or access point reasonably close.

Mapping the Yard

Once everything was connected, the fun really began.

The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is capable of maintaining multiple lawns, but I decided to start with just my front yard because my backyard is separated by a privacy fence. Later, I even mapped and mowed my neighbor’s front yard across the driveway.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

You can let the mower automatically map your property or manually drive it around the perimeter. I chose the manual option.

I have to admit, I probably looked like a kid on Christmas morning driving the mower around with the app like it was a remote-control car. My yard has a steep drainage ditch that often fills with water, so I wanted precise control over the boundaries.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

I did attempt to include the ditch since the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is rated for slopes up to 80%, but the muddy, bare areas proved to be too much. Honestly, I expected that, so it wasn’t a deal breaker.

After mapping the perimeter, I selected my mowing pattern. Naturally, I wanted that checkerboard look you see on perfectly manicured golf courses.

Before the first mow, I did have to install a firmware update. Thankfully, it didn’t take very long. I also configured my mowing schedule, selected a voice, and adjusted some sound settings.

One thing that immediately stood out was just how quiet the mower is. It’s quiet enough that I actually scheduled it to mow in the middle of the night.

Smart Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance

The technology behind the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is probably one of the biggest reasons someone would choose this mower over a traditional robotic mower.

Instead of relying on a physical boundary wire, the mower uses LiDAR and AI cameras to understand its surroundings. This helps it navigate around obstacles, move through different areas of the yard, and make decisions about where it needs to go next.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

I was especially interested to see how the obstacle avoidance would work because my yard has plenty of things that could potentially get in the way. Between pets, wildlife, and everyday yard surprises, a mower needs to know when to stop.

I didn’t have to wait long to see the obstacle detection system in action.

My four-legged furry friends were naturally curious about the strange new machine roaming the yard. Every time they approached, the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 stopped immediately before continuing once the area was clear.

That gave me a lot of confidence. Whether you have pets, kids, or unexpected wildlife wandering through your yard, it’s reassuring to know the mower is paying attention to its surroundings.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

The Mammotion app also gives you a lot of control over the mower. You can create and adjust maps, manage up to 20 mowing zones, set schedules, and customize mowing patterns. The ability to make changes digitally instead of physically changing the yard setup is one of the things that makes a robotic mower like this appealing.

Mowing Performance

Once everything was configured, the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 went right to work.

The mowing pattern looked great, and I was impressed with how consistently it maintained the lawn. It handled tight spaces well thanks to its omni-directional front wheels and navigated around my yard with very little intervention from me.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

The biggest benefit, though, was simply getting my time back. Instead of spending my weekends behind a mower in the summer heat, I could let the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 handle the work while I did something else.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

App Experience

The Mammotion app ended up being one of my favorite parts of the overall experience.

Beyond the initial setup, it makes scheduling, mapping, and changing mower settings very straightforward. Everything from firmware updates to maintenance information is available within the app, along with tutorial videos and helpful documentation.

I never felt overwhelmed trying to figure out how to use it, and that’s saying something considering how many smart home products tend to overcomplicate things.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

Design

When I said earlier that I was off to the races, I meant it.

The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 reminds me of an oversized futuristic remote-control Indy car. Five-year-old me would have thought it was the coolest thing ever, and honestly, adult me isn’t far behind. My neighbors certainly noticed it.

The LiDAR dome on top gives it a bit of a spaceship appearance, which only adds to its futuristic look.

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD Mower

Not only does it perform well, but it’s also a genuinely attractive piece of technology. Mammotion’s design team clearly put thought into both the appearance and functionality. I wish more companies approached product design this way.

Battery and Maintenance

One of the biggest benefits of a robotic mower is not having to constantly think about mowing, and the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is designed around that idea.

The mower automatically returns to its charging station when needed and resumes mowing once it has enough power. The intelligent battery management system also includes features designed to help extend battery life, including charging limits and low-temperature protection.

Routine maintenance is straightforward. Mammotion includes extra blades and cleaning supplies, which means you have what you need for basic upkeep right out of the box.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, the Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 has saved me both time and effort while keeping my yard looking like it was maintained by a professional lawn care crew.

The only downside is that it still can’t trim around edges, so I have to get out the string trimmer every few weeks. Maybe Mammotion will come up with a trimmer attachment someday.

The company includes extra blades and cleaning supplies to help with routine maintenance, which is a nice touch.

Overall, I found the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 incredibly easy to set up, simple to operate, and impressively safety-conscious. Every time I see it quietly making its way across the lawn, I can’t help but smile. It brings out the kid in me all over again.

If you haven’t made the jump to a robotic lawn mower yet, the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 is definitely worth considering. Even if you already own another robotic mower, you may find yourself tempted to upgrade. As my father said, using it makes you feel a little like George Jetson.

Minimalist wallets have become increasingly popular over the past few years, promising slimmer pockets and quicker access to everyday essentials. While many follow the same formula of stacking cards inside a compact aluminum frame with a pop-up ejection mechanism, meaningful innovation in the category has been relatively rare. I’ve tested several minimalist wallets over the years, but none have become my daily wallet.

The Shuffle Wallet 2.0 aims to change that with a fresh approach to card organization and accessibility. Instead of simply pushing cards upward in a staggered stack, its patented fan-style mechanism spreads cards out so you can instantly see and select the one you need.

Pricing & Availability

The list price for the wallet is $139.99, but it’s currently being offered for $99.99 (at the time of publishing) on shuffle.life.

User Experience

Getting started with the Shuffle Wallet 2.0 couldn’t have been much easier. Aside from loading my cards into the wallet, there was virtually no setup required. Pairing the built-in tracker with Apple’s Find My network was equally straightforward. After fully charging the wallet using the included magnetic charging cable, I pressed the power button, and it was immediately recognized by Find My as a “Square tag.” From there, I assigned it an icon and added it to my devices, completing the setup process in just a few minutes.

Shuffle Wallet 2.0

My first impression of the wallet was positive. The Forged Carbon finish gives it a modern, premium appearance while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Despite its aluminum construction, it doesn’t feel overly heavy, and its dimensions are comparable to a traditional wallet while remaining noticeably thinner than the bifold wallet I normally carry. The build quality also inspired confidence. Having tested several minimalist wallets with similar card ejection mechanisms, I’ve seen some develop problems or break over time. The Shuffle Wallet 2.0 feels substantially more solid and well constructed.

During my testing, I carried between six and seven cards, including four credit cards, my driver’s license, and two insurance cards. The retention system held everything securely, even when I reduced the load to only two or three cards. I never felt like the cards would slip out, regardless of how many I was carrying.

The wallet’s fan mechanism is its standout feature. While the thumb slider requires a little more force than I expected, it consistently deploys the cards for quick access. The cards don’t always spread into a perfectly even fan, and the middle cards can occasionally be a bit harder to grab, but I still found the design more intuitive than the staggered ejection systems used by many competing wallets because it makes identifying the correct card much easier. Inserting cards requires slightly more effort than removing them, although this became less noticeable after a few days of use.

Shuffle Wallet 2.0

For everyday carry, the wallet proved comfortable in both my front and back pockets. Its footprint is similar to that of a compact smartphone, and the smooth, rounded edges made it easy to slide into a pocket without catching on clothing.

I also tested the wallet’s MagSafe functionality with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. The magnetic connection felt secure during normal use and held the wallet firmly in place. However, attaching it noticeably increased the phone’s thickness, making the combination less comfortable to carry for extended periods. While the feature is convenient when you want to keep everything together, I generally preferred carrying the wallet separately.

The built-in tracker performed reliably throughout my testing. Apple’s Find My network located the wallet quickly, and location updates appeared without delay. I also tested the audible alert, but the speaker was quieter than I expected. The alert uses a higher-pitched tone that was difficult for me to hear because of my hearing loss, and there are currently no options to adjust the volume or change the sound.

Shuffle Wallet 2.0

Charging the tracker was the one aspect of the experience that felt less refined. Although the proprietary magnetic charging cable is simple to connect, it can be knocked loose fairly easily while charging. Because the cable is unique to the wallet, it also means you’ll need to keep track of it, since a standard USB-C cable can’t be used as a replacement.

After several days of daily use, the fan mechanism remained my favorite feature. It offers a genuinely different way to access cards and makes selecting the one you need faster than many traditional minimalist wallets. Overall, the Shuffle Wallet 2.0 is best suited for people who primarily carry cards and want a slim, premium everyday wallet. Those who regularly carry cash may find its minimalist design a bit limiting.

Shuffle Wallet 2.0

Conclusion

The Shuffle Wallet 2.0 brings meaningful innovation to a product category where many designs have become increasingly similar. While there are a few areas that could be improved, particularly the proprietary magnetic charging cable and the relatively quiet tracker speaker, neither significantly detracts from the overall experience. The wallet consistently performed well throughout my testing, securely holding my cards while remaining comfortable to carry.

If you’re looking for a premium minimalist wallet and primarily carry cards rather than cash, the Shuffle Wallet 2.0 is one of the most compelling options I’ve tested. Its thoughtful design, solid construction, and innovative card access system make it stand out in an increasingly crowded market.

Recovery Tech Is Getting Smarter and Changing How People Care for Their Bodies

7 August 2026 at 15:25

Technology has reshaped nearly every aspect of personal wellness. Fitness trackers monitor heart rate and sleep, smartwatches encourage people to stay active and connected fitness platforms bring guided workouts into the home.

More recently, recovery technology has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments of the wellness market, giving consumers new ways to manage everyday muscle fatigue without visiting a clinic or gym.

The shift reflects broader changes in how people think about health. Recovery is no longer viewed as something reserved for athletes.

Office workers dealing with hours at a computer, travelers spending long days in transit, parents juggling busy schedules, and recreational exercisers are increasingly looking for practical ways to stay comfortable and maintain mobility throughout the week.

Industry data supports this trend. The Global Wellness Institute estimates that the global wellness economy has grown into a multi-trillion-dollar market, with consumers investing more in products and technologies that support long-term physical well-being.

Recovery-focused devices have become part of that broader movement, reflecting growing interest in preventative wellness rather than reactive care.

Recovery Has Become Part of Everyday Wellness

For many people, muscle stiffness doesn’t come from intense athletic training. Hours spent sitting at a desk, carrying heavy bags, standing for extended periods, or repetitive daily movements can all contribute to muscle tension.

Health professionals increasingly emphasize that maintaining mobility requires more than regular exercise alone. Sleep, hydration, stretching, and allowing muscles time to recover all contribute to keeping the body functioning comfortably over time.

Evidence-based recovery strategies, including adequate rest, proper hydration, and consistent movement, play an important role in supporting physical performance and overall musculoskeletal health.

As awareness grows, many consumers are looking for recovery solutions that fit naturally into their daily routines.

Smart Features Are Making Recovery Devices More Accessible

Today’s recovery products look very different from those available just a few years ago.

Manufacturers continue to improve portability, battery life, ergonomics, and ease of use.

Many personal recovery devices now feature rechargeable USB-C batteries, brushless motors that operate more quietly, multiple intensity settings, interchangeable massage heads, and lightweight designs intended for convenient use at home or while traveling.

These improvements have made recovery technology more approachable for everyday users rather than only competitive athletes. Instead of requiring specialized equipment or professional appointments, consumers can incorporate muscle care into their routines in just a few minutes after work, exercise, or travel.

The emphasis has shifted toward convenience, customization, and helping users choose settings that match their comfort level.

Choosing the Right Recovery Tool

As more products become available, consumers have greater flexibility in selecting equipment that suits their individual needs.

Handheld percussion devices are commonly used for larger muscle groups following physical activity. Shiatsu-style units provide rotating massage motions that many people find comfortable for the neck and shoulders after extended computer work.

Foot massagers remain popular among people who spend much of the day standing, while massage cushions can provide additional comfort during long hours at a desk or while relaxing at home.

Retailers have also expanded their wellness selections, making it easier to compare different styles and features in one place. Consumers exploring massagers can now choose from a wide variety of designs intended for different muscle groups, usage preferences, and budgets.

Rather than focusing on the most powerful device, experts generally recommend selecting one that matches individual recovery needs and will be used consistently.

Technology Complements Healthy Habits

Recovery devices work best as part of a balanced wellness routine rather than as standalone solutions.

Regular stretching, walking throughout the day, staying hydrated, maintaining healthy sleep habits, and varying physical activity all contribute to muscle health.

Personal recovery devices can complement these practices by providing temporary relief from everyday muscle tightness and encouraging relaxation after physical exertion.

Harvard Health Publishing notes that proper recovery, including allowing muscles time to heal, returning gradually to activity, and avoiding overuse, supports the body’s natural recovery process following minor muscle strains and everyday physical stress.

Consumers should also remember that massage devices are wellness products rather than medical treatments. Persistent pain, injuries, or symptoms that worsen over time should always be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional.

Looking Ahead

The next generation of recovery technology is likely to become even more personalized. Advances in battery efficiency, quieter motors, ergonomic engineering, and connected wellness ecosystems continue to improve the user experience while making these devices more accessible to a broader audience.

As personal wellness technology evolves, recovery is becoming a routine part of everyday life rather than an occasional activity reserved for athletes.

For consumers interested in supporting comfort and mobility, today’s recovery devices represent another example of how thoughtful product design can help people care for their bodies in practical, convenient ways.

Like many areas of consumer technology, the greatest value isn’t found in replacing healthy habits. It comes from complementing them. When paired with regular movement, quality sleep, proper hydration, and sensible exercise, modern recovery tools can play a meaningful role in helping people stay active and comfortable throughout their daily lives.

How to Build a Business Continuity Plan That Protects Your Projects

By: Robyn
7 August 2026 at 15:20

As a project manager, you focus on delivering projects on time and within budget. But what happens when the unexpected hits? A sudden server outage, a key team member’s medical emergency, or a regional power failure can derail even the most carefully planned project. Real project leadership goes beyond Gantt charts and status reports; it means building resilience so both your project and your team can handle any challenge.

Understanding Continuity Planning

Project continuity planning isn’t just about getting ready for a major disaster. It’s about actively finding potential problems and setting up clear steps to keep essential work going. Think of it as an insurance policy for your project’s timeline and deliverables. The goal is to cut down on downtime and keep things moving. A good plan covers everything from tech failures to staff availability.

To build a strong foundation, it helps to understand the main parts. The University of Texas at Austin describes effective continuity planning as a cycle of analysis, preparation, and recovery. This framework helps you think through possible risks in an organized way. For a more direct approach, there are essential steps for business continuity that any project manager can use, starting with a business impact analysis to figure out your project’s most important functions.

Prioritizing Team Well-being

A project relies on its people. A continuity plan that only looks at systems and processes isn’t complete. Your team’s safety and well-being must be a top priority, especially during a crisis. This means having clear rules for checking on team members, offering support, and making sure they feel safe. This duty of care is especially important for people working in unusual or isolated settings.

For teams with members in remote field locations, on large construction sites, or even working alone from home, it’s crucial to have a quick response in case of a personal emergency. Simple check-in procedures are a good start, but technology can offer a more reliable safety net. For example, tools like Life Assure medical alert systems can give lone workers a direct way to get help, adding an extra layer of security that supports their well-being no matter where they work.

Implementing Reliable Emergency Protocols

When something goes wrong, confusion can be your biggest enemy. Clear, simple, and easy-to-find emergency protocols are essential. Your team shouldn’t have to guess what to do or who to call. Create straightforward action plans for different situations, like a medical incident, a security breach, or suddenly losing access to the main worksite.

Your protocols should include:

  • A clear communication tree showing who to contact and in what order.
  • Pre-set ways to communicate (e.g., a dedicated chat channel, a text message group).
  • A list of key information to share during an emergency.
  • Designated backup team leads in case primary contacts aren’t available.

Make these documents easy to find. Store them in a shared cloud folder that everyone can access from any device, and make sure every team member knows where they are.

Technology for Uninterrupted Operations

Modern technology is a key part of good continuity planning. The right tools can turn a small problem into a full-blown project crisis. Cloud-based platforms have completely changed how teams can deal with disruptions like office closures or hardware failures. If your project management software, files, and communication tools are all in the cloud, your team can switch to remote work almost instantly.

Make sure your project uses a resilient tech setup. This means using collaborative software like Asana or Trello for tasks, communication platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams for real-time updates, and strong cloud storage solutions like Google Drive or Dropbox with automatic backups. By spreading out your project’s operational hub, you remove a single point of failure and build in the flexibility needed to keep work flowing.

Reviewing and Adapting Safety Measures

A continuity plan is a living document, not something you do once and forget. Your project, team, and the risks you face will change over time. Schedule regular reviews of your safety and continuity protocols, at least once a quarter or whenever there’s a big change in project scope or personnel.

The best way to test your plan is to practice it. Run tabletop exercises where you guide the team through a made-up scenario. This simple practice can show gaps in your plan, unclear instructions, or outdated contact information. After any real incident, hold a post-mortem to discuss what worked, what didn’t, and how you can improve the protocol for next time. Constant improvement is crucial for creating a truly resilient project environment.

By making continuity and safety part of your project management, you protect not only your timeline and budget but also your most valuable asset: your team.

Three Best Practices for Simplifying the Shipping Process

6 August 2026 at 16:59

When people think about shipping, they often picture the final step – putting the label on the box and handing it over to a carrier. In reality, that’s only a small part of the process. Long before a package leaves the warehouse, dozens of small decisions have already been made. If any one of those steps is inefficient, the delays tend to… snowball.

The businesses that ship most efficiently usually aren’t doing anything revolutionary. They’ve simply removed as much friction from the process as possible. Whether that’s cutting down on manual tasks or making the warehouse easier to work in, small improvements typically have a bigger impact than people expect.

Keep reading on to find out more.

1. Leverage Automation Software

There’s no reason your team should spend half the day doing work that software handles in second.

If employees are typing in customer details, checking shipping rates across different carrier websites, or manually sending tracking updates, they’re spending time on tasks that don’t really ad value. Automation takes care of those repetitive jobs. This leaves staff free to focus on packing orders.

It’s not just about saving time, either. Manual processes naturally leave room for mistakes. A mistyped postcode or the wrong shipping option creates unnecessary headaches. That costs both money and customer trust. As businesses expand, many also turn to partners – like Ryder logistics – to simplify the wider supply chain. Such experts even keep transportation and fulfillment running smoothly.

2. Standardize Packaging and Sizes

Packaging has a habit of becoming more complicated than it needs to be. Over time, businesses add more box sides, more packing materials, and more variations until choosing the right package becomes a task in itself.

Keeping things simple usually works better.

A small selection of well-chosen box sizes makes packing quicker. Why? Because employees aren’t stopping to decide which option makes the most sense every few minutes. It also makes ordering packaging supplies much easier.

There’s another advantage, too, that gets overlooked. Using boxes that actually fit the products helps avoid paying extra shipping costs for oversized packages. It cuts down on wasted materials as well. This is good for both the budget and the customer experience.

3. Organize the Warehouse Layout

Even the best shipping software won’t fix a warehouse that’s difficult to work in.

If staff spend half their shift walking from one end of the building to the other, that’s time they aren’t spending picking, packing, or preparing orders. It might not seem significant on a single shipment, but over the course of a week, those extra steps really add up.

A practical warehouse layout keeps popular items close to packing stations, labels shelves clearly, and gives employees a straightforward route through the building. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to make sense.

It’s also worth reviewing the layout from time to time. Businesses change. Product ranges evolve. Buying habits shift. A warehouse that worked brilliantly two years ago may not be the best setup today.

To conclude, making shipping simpler isn’t about finding one magic solution. It’s usually the result of lots of small changes that make everyday work just a little easier – as outlined above.

7 Leading AI Search Optimization Companies

6 August 2026 at 14:22

Artificial intelligence is changing the way people search online. BMX Previews GaNsta™ Pixel, a Smaller Laptop Charger Made To Be Seen

5 August 2026 at 16:57

The 100W and 140W GaN chargers are up to 43% smaller than the charger that ships with a Mac, with four ports, global adapters, and a retro-futuristic pixel LED display that makes charging visible.

BMX (Better Mobile Xperience), the mobile power company behind the award-winning SolidSafe™ range, today unveiled GaNsta™ Pixel, a 100W and 140W GaN charger line built around two ideas: make the laptop charger smaller, then make charging visible. GaNsta™ Pixel delivers MacBook-class power in a charger up to 43% smaller than the one it replaces, with a pixel LED display that shows live wattage and gives the charger a reason to be seen GaNsta Pixel available on BMX Website, AmazonUKand coming soon to Amazon US, 140W GaNsta Pixel $89.99/£99.99 on BMX website and AmazonUK, 100W GaNsta Pixel $79.99/£79.99 on BMX website and AmazonUK.

Smaller Than The Charger In Your Bag

The charger that comes with the Mac does the job. It also takes up more room than it needs to. GaNsta™ Pixel starts there: 140W Pixel is 43% smaller than the charger that comes with a MacBook Pro, while 100W Pixel is 37% smaller than the charger that comes with a MacBook Air or 96W-class laptop charger.

The proof is physical: both models measure 62 x 65 x 35.9mm. The smaller body is not a tradeoff, either. The 140W model delivers full-speed MacBook Pro charging from either primary USB-C port. The 100W model is built for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 14-inch, iPad, phones, earbuds, and the rest of a daily carry setup.

Live Wattage With Personality

The pixel LED display is what makes Pixel different. It is useful first: the screen cycles through C1, C2, C3, A1, and TTL views, showing live wattage by port and total output as devices charge. Pixel animations show charging, standby, and fault states, so users can see which port is active and how much power is moving.

It is also the part that gives the charger its character. The retro-futuristic readout turns a normally invisible process into something visible, expressive, and easy to understand at a glance. Gray, Blue, and Orange make Pixel feel like something people would want in their house, on their desk, on a nightstand, or in a travel bag.

One Charger For Travel And Commute

Pixel is built for the bag people actually carry: laptop, phone, tablet, earbuds, and the cables that come with all of them. The four-port layout lets one small charger cover the commute, the desk, the hotel room, and the flight delay without forcing people to pack a separate charger for every device.

The hardware backs that up. USB-C1 and USB-C2 are the laptop-first ports: up to 140W each on the 140W model, or up to 100W each on the 100W model. USB-C3 supports up to 65W for tablets, smaller laptops, or fast-charging phones, while USB-A supports older cables and smaller accessories up to 22.5W. Pixel also includes a foldable US plug, EU/UK/AU adapters, a 1m braided USB-C cable, a suede travel pouch, and a 24-month limited warranty.

From BMX

“We think travelers are going to love seeing 140W laptop power, four ports, and global adapters in a charger that fits in the palm of their hand. Pixel shows the wattage as it charges, and it finally gives people a charger that can stand out and fit their style.”

— Barry Miller, Head of Marketing, BMX

TickerNotch REVIEW A Smart macOS Utility for Investors and Traders

Price as of 08/04/2026

TickerNotch transforms your MacBook’s notch or external display into a live dashboard for market data, news, and alerts. Find out how it performed during weeks of real-world testing.

I spend a lot of my day in front of my Mac, whether I’m writing, editing photos, responding to emails, or researching products for reviews. Like many people, I also like to keep an eye on what’s happening in the news and financial markets every so often. The problem is that doing so usually means leaving a browser tab open, checking a trading platform throughout the day, or constantly switching between apps. While none of those things are difficult, they do interrupt my workflow. That’s what caught my attention about TickerNotch. Rather than requiring another window or taking up valuable desktop space, it displays market information in an area that’s normally unused.

TickerNotch macOS App

What is TickerNotch?

TickerNotch is a native macOS application designed to keep financial market information visible while you work by turning the otherwise unused space around your MacBook’s display notch into a live information hub. On Macs without a notch or when using an external display, the app can create a simulated island that provides the same experience. Rather than relying on a browser tab, menu bar utility, or a dedicated trading platform that consumes valuable desktop space, TickerNotch keeps your watchlist, portfolio performance, news headlines, and alerts in constant view so you can stay informed without interrupting your workflow.

Built by a Trader, for Traders

The app was created by an independent developer whose background is in materials engineering and advanced informatics. After spending nearly a decade trading the financial markets, they found themselves constantly monitoring charts, news feeds, and market data throughout the day. What began as small personal software projects to solve their own workflow challenges eventually led to the development of TickerNotch. Before creating the app, they built HyperBot, a private automated trading system used to manage their own investment accounts. While HyperBot has never been released publicly, the experience of developing software responsible for trading real money around the clock shaped the reliability and production mindset that carried over into TickerNotch.

TickerNotch macOS App
TickerNotch macOS App

The concept behind TickerNotch was inspired by both software and hardware. The developer cites boring.notch and the TickrMeter desktop ticker among their biggest influences, along with Apple’s philosophy of transforming hardware limitations into useful features, much like the Dynamic Island on the iPhone. Instead of treating the MacBook’s notch as wasted space, TickerNotch turns the surrounding black areas into a persistent source of useful information. The developer is also expanding this concept beyond the Mac with an upcoming companion iPhone app.

Designed to Keep Market Information in View

TickerNotch is designed primarily for anyone who follows the financial markets while working on a Mac, whether that’s active traders, long-term investors, or users who simply want financial headlines and market information available at a glance. Its centerpiece is the customizable live ticker, which can display a watchlist, portfolio profit and loss, and continuously scrolling RSS news feeds simultaneously. Users can configure native macOS price alerts, and selecting a ticker opens an interactive candlestick chart complete with technical indicators such as RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands. Multiple chart windows can remain open at the same time, and nearly every aspect of the interface, including fonts, colors, scrolling behavior, and animated shader backgrounds, can be customized.

TickerNotch macOS App

Unlike many competing market applications that either occupy the menu bar or require users to switch into a full trading platform, TickerNotch focuses on keeping information permanently visible while remaining unobtrusive. It uses screen space that would otherwise go unused, allowing users to monitor multiple symbols at once without sacrificing valuable workspace.

Native Performance with a Privacy-First Approach

TickerNotch is built exclusively for macOS 14 Sonoma or later and is written entirely in Swift, SwiftUI, and AppKit without relying on Electron or web-based interfaces. Charts are rendered using SwiftUI Canvas, while market data is delivered through WebSocket connections for cryptocurrency, HTTP polling for stock quotes, and RSS feeds for news. Automatic updates are handled through Sparkle, and despite its capabilities, the entire application is only about 6.5 MB in size.

TickerNotch macOS App

Privacy is another area where the developer intentionally keeps things simple. TickerNotch does not require an account or collect personal data. The app includes optional anonymous usage statistics, which can be disabled in the Settings menu. According to the developer, these statistics only report high-level feature usage, such as how many ticker slots or weather widgets are enabled, without collecting the contents of that information or any personally identifiable data. Watchlists, settings, and other app data remain stored locally on the user’s Mac, and the application only requests notification permissions for price alerts and internet access to retrieve market data. It does not require screen recording, accessibility, location, or file system permissions. The app is Developer ID signed, notarized, and uses cryptographically signed updates to help ensure a secure installation and update process.

Pricing, Support, and What’s Next

The app is available with a seven-day free trial that doesn’t require a credit card. After the trial, users can continue using a permanent free version that supports one ticker, one news channel, and one alert. Those who need additional functionality can upgrade to Pro, which unlocks unlimited watchlists, chart windows, portfolio tracking, and alerts through monthly or lifetime licensing options. One license can be transferred between Macs, although it may only be active on one machine at a time.

TickerNotch macOS App

TickerNotch Pro is available for $5 per month or a $40 lifetime license. With a permanent free tier, flexible upgrade options, and a lifetime purchase option, TickerNotch provides users with multiple ways to access the features that best fit their workflow.

As a solo developer, they handle every aspect of the project, from development and testing to customer support and marketing. They also embrace the use of AI coding assistants during development, describing them as collaborative programming tools that accelerate implementation while emphasizing that the architecture, design decisions, testing, and final review of every shipped line of code remain their responsibility.

Looking ahead, the roadmap includes a Focus Mode that expands a single ticker across the entire strip for improved concentration during earnings or other important events, smarter percentage-based alerts that trigger over rolling time windows, support for additional market data providers and broker integrations, a future Mac App Store release, and the launch of TickerNotch for iOS, which brings the same concept to the iPhone.

Main Features

  • Live Tickers
  • Weather Slots
  • Social Counters
  • System Metrics
  • News, one side or both
  • Menu bar pins
  • Candlestick charts
  • One search box

User Experience

I’ve been using TickerNotch throughout my workday for the past couple of weeks, and it has become one of those utilities that quietly does its job without demanding attention. Despite displaying a constant stream of information, the interface never felt cluttered or distracting. Instead, it strikes a nice balance between keeping important market data, computer specs, and news visible and staying out of the way while I’m writing, editing, or working on other projects.

One of the first things that stood out to me was just how clean the interface is. Everything is easy to read, and I really like that I can decide exactly what information is displayed. Whether it’s stocks, cryptocurrency, weather, news, or other data, it’s simple to tailor the ticker to match my workflow. Even better, any changes I made in the settings were reflected immediately in the ticker, so I could experiment with different layouts without waiting for the app to refresh or restarting it.

TickerNotch macOS App
TickerNotch macOS App

Getting started was equally straightforward. Installation only took a few moments, and once the app was up and running, the hardest part was deciding what information I wanted to include in the ticker. The settings are well organized, making it easy to customize the experience without feeling overwhelmed.

Since I spend much of my day working on an external monitor, I was especially happy to see support for the simulated notch on displays without a physical notch. After enabling the feature, TickerNotch worked well on my LG UltraGear monitor, allowing me to keep using the app even when my MacBook Pro was connected to an external display. I also experimented with different display resolutions and found that the simulated notch scaled properly every time, which was reassuring since display scaling can sometimes create unexpected issues.

TickerNotch macOS App
TickerNotch macOS App

Over the course of my testing, TickerNotch proved to be reliable. I left it running all day, every day, for a couple of weeks and never experienced a crash or found myself needing to restart the application. It also had no noticeable impact on my Mac’s performance. CPU and memory usage remained low enough that I often forgot the app was running in the background until I glanced up at the ticker for an update.

Overall, I think TickerNotch succeeds because it focuses on doing one job well. It makes excellent use of screen space that would otherwise go unused and provides a convenient way to keep market information and news within view without interrupting my workflow. For anyone who spends long hours at their Mac, especially those who regularly follow the financial markets, it’s a thoughtful utility that quickly becomes part of your daily routine.

TickerNotch macOS App

I also want to note that this is a fairly new app and the developer has been very responsive to feedback. We suggested a few things that would make the app more useful and he rolled out those features quickly. If you decide to give it a try, and think of something that would make it better, don’t hesitate to reach out as he’s very responsive and open to suggestions.

Conclusion

TickerNotch is one of those utilities that solves a problem you may not have realized you had until you start using it. By transforming the unused space around your MacBook’s notch, or creating a simulated notch on external displays, it keeps market data, news, and other information readily available without cluttering your desktop or interrupting your workflow.

While the app is clearly geared toward investors and traders, anyone who wants glanceable information available throughout the day may find it useful. Combined with a generous free tier and reasonably priced Pro options, TickerNotch delivers an experience that feels polished and genuinely useful. If you spend most of your day working on a Mac and regularly monitor the financial markets, TickerNotch is an easy recommendation.

The Xerox C303a combines exceptional print quality, dependable wireless performance, premium build quality, and an easy setup experience to create one of the best all-in-one color laser printers for everyday business use.

Let’s be honest, printers aren’t exactly the most thrilling purchase. Most of us don’t want to spend hours researching them the way we do phones, TVs, or computers. Instead, we just grab one and hope it’ll quietly do its job for years without turning into a headache. That’s exactly what I do. And while I’m usually content enough, without fail I always end up wishing I’d gotten something better. I’ve owned printers that constantly lost their Wi-Fi connection, refused to recognize new ink cartridges, or somehow managed to jam paper despite only printing a handful of pages a week. Eventually you just want something that when you hit print it just does it, is that too much to ask for at a fair price these days?

Between starting a new business, writing product reviews, printing invoices, customer estimates, shipping labels, and the occasional school project for the kids, my printer sees a lot more use than the average household. I don’t need a massive commercial copier sitting in my office, but I also don’t want a cheap inkjet that feels disposable after a year or two. I need something that produces professional-quality documents, prints quickly, scans reliably, and doesn’t make me troubleshoot every time I need to use it, and that’s exactly what drew me to the new Xerox C303a color laser all in one printer.

Xerox C303a Color Laser All-in-One Printer

In case you didn’t know, Xerox finally closed its $1.5 billion deal for Lexmark in July 2025, folding two old-school printer giants into one. Almost a year later, in June 2026, they dropped the first actual products under the new unified Xerox brand, the C240/C245, C255a, and C300-series a4 color printers and multifunction machines. They didn’t just take some older overstock and slap a new logo on it, instead they mixed Lexmark’s solid hardware DNA with Xerox’s software and services know how, aimed squarely at small workgroups that just want something reliable, easy to set up, reasonably secure, and a little greener. At the same time they rolled out a refreshed logo and brand look, making it clear this is the real start of “one company, one brand” and hopefully fewer headaches for the rest of us who are looking to purchase a printer that works.

First Impressions.

Right out of the box, it’s obvious this isn’t trying to compete with your basic home printers you’ll find sitting on a Walmart shelf. The C303a has the professional appearance you’d expect from your classic Xerox with its white and black design staying clean and understated, and while it certainly isn’t a small printer, it doesn’t feel oversized either. It looks like it belongs in a home office, small business, or reception area without taking over the entire room. I replaced my old printer and actually have more room on that shelf where I can now put a small organizer for different sizes of paper etc.

One thing I noticed right out of the package was the overall build quality. Everything feels solid and intentional. The paper drawer slides so smoothly, the scanner lid has a reassuring weight to it, and nothing flexes or rattles when you use it, not even when you’re cranking out paper like a college essay or a tax return! Even the touchscreen feels responsive and premium, much more like your smartphone instead of feeling like an afterthought or a cheap piece of plastic that you’re pressing overly hard to get a response.

After years of using printers made almost entirely from thin plastic, this was a refreshing change.

Xerox C303a Color Laser All-in-One Printer

User experience.

If there’s one thing I normally dread about buying a printer, it’s the setup process.

We’ve all experienced spending thirty minutes trying to convince a printer to connect to Wi-Fi only to have it disappear from the network a day later, most recently it was for a label printer and it was an absolute nightmare! It’s back in its box until I can muster the patience to try again haha.

Thankfully, Xerox made the setup process as easy as it could possibly be.The touchscreen walks you through each step, and within just a few minutes I was connected to my wireless network and printing from both my computer and my phone. The Xerox Easy Assist app also deserves some credit because it makes monitoring the printer and changing settings much easier than digging through menus directly on the machine, certainly helpful for those not so familiar with the Xerox printers.

When it came to starting my first print, it was as if the printer had been connected to my network for years, just sitting there waiting for me to select it as a printer option, no unnecessary passwords or logins required. All I had to do was select it and print, it was really that easy, less than 5 minutes after I unboxed it, how can you beat that! One thing I can also appreciate is the noise, they did a good job at making it quiet, my printer sits in the closet right next to me and half the time I don’t even know that my kid printed anything until he comes walking asking to grab his paper haha.

Xerox C303a Color Laser All-in-One Printer

Print Quality Is Where It Shines, Without question, the biggest highlight of the Xerox C303a is its print quality. This was the feature that impressed me more than anything else. I did a few standard printer tests, and they all looked perfect, Black-and-white documents come out incredibly sharp. Small fonts remain crisp, lines stay clean, and everything from invoices to customer estimates looks professional enough to hand directly to a client.

Color printing is equally impressive. Marketing flyers, product sheets, presentations, and I even printed a few photographs of my wife and the kids, and they all have vibrant colors without looking exaggerated. Gradients remain smooth, images have excellent detail, and nothing looks washed out or dull, and that’s on just normal printing paper, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality I was getting.

Even after printing dozens of different documents, I never found myself adjusting settings or wondering why one page looked different from the previous one. Every print was consistently clean and professional, and for me that’s huge, I just want something that is going to work every time I ask for it. At work I’m constantly dealing with equipment breaking or something needing fine tuning and by the time I get home that’s the last thing I want to be dealing with at home, i could be one paperjam away from a mental breakdown haha.

Built for Everyday Work.

Over the course of using the printer, I found myself relying on nearly every feature it offers.

The automatic document feeder made scanning contracts and paperwork incredibly easy, especially when dealing with multiple pages, my wife and I took on the task of scanning all of my paper paystubs and making them digital so we could free up some space in the cabinet, and that process as long as it was, couldn’t have gone any smoother. Between quick operating and perfect image capturing, not a single one of them had to be redone or wasn’t able to be read, thanks Xerox for building a quality machine!

Xerox C303a Color Laser All-in-One Printer

The automatic duplex printing quickly became something I appreciated mainly because I didn’t have to manually flip paper over for double-sided documents. Not very often am I doing this but it can be a hassle if you do it frequently. Printing from my phone worked exactly the way I’d hoped, which made it easy to quickly print pictures, PDFs, or emails without ever sitting down at the computer,  have even set it up on my sons phone so when he wants to print his own coloring pages he can do so while im at work!

Perhaps the biggest compliment I can give the Xerox C303a is that I stopped thinking about it.

When I clicked Print, it printed. When I needed to scan something, it scanned and to top it all off There weren’t random error messages, Wi-Fi disconnects, or mysterious paper jams interrupting my workflow. Sometimes the best technology is the technology you barely notice because it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to.

Price.

You can currently run over to Xerox’s main webpage and find this C303a for a listed price of $699.00 but is currently on a huge sale bringing you to a sale price of $499 or you can always run to Amazon and find it for a listed price of $507.77 plus shipping!

Xerox C303a Color Laser All-in-One Printer

My final thoughts.

After spending time with the Xerox C303a, My Only Real Complaint, like if I had to find something to criticize, it would be the size of the paper tray. For my home office, it’s perfectly adequate. I wasn’t constantly refilling it, and I imagine most home users or small businesses won’t have any complaints. However, if you’re printing hundreds of pages every day in a busy office environment, you’ll probably wish it held a little more paper before needing a refill. It’s hardly a deal breaker, but it’s honestly the only area where I found myself wanting a bit more.

Now other than that, it just works haha. That may not sound exciting, but anyone who’s owned a frustrating printer knows reliability is one of the most valuable features you can ask for. The print quality is outstanding, setup is to die for, the scanner works exactly as expected, wireless printing has been nothing but reliable, and the overall build quality gives me confidence that this is a machine designed for years of regular use instead of the once a year occasional printing.

The one question most of you would ask is Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

If you’re looking for a color laser multifunction printer for a home office or small business and you care more about reliability and print quality than flashy gimmicks or a new appearance, the Xerox C303A is an excellent choice. It isn’t the cheapest printer you can buy, but after using it, it’s easy to understand where your money is going. So yes, I do enjoy having this printer in my home and look forward to the continued reliability out of this new and improved Xerox printer. Thanks for reading and I hope I was able to help you decide if this was the printer for you!

With 200W of shared output, six charging ports, a retractable USB-C cable, and a real-time LCD display, the MOKiN 200W Desktop Charger is an excellent all-in-one charging solution for modern desktops.

I’ve reviewed quite a few MOKiN products over the years, and they’ve become one of those brands I genuinely look forward to testing. Whether it’s a docking station, USB-C hub, or charger, I’ve consistently been impressed by the quality of the materials, thoughtful designs, and reliable performance. MOKiN has earned a place among my favorite accessory brands because they continue to deliver dependable products without the premium price tag that many competitors charge.

Founded around 2016, MOKiN focuses on USB-C accessories, including docking stations, hubs, adapters, and charging solutions. As laptops and tablets have increasingly adopted USB-C while removing traditional ports, the company has built its lineup around helping users connect displays, transfer data, and charge multiple devices with as little hassle as possible. Backed by its parent manufacturer, C-SmartLink Information Technology in Shenzhen, MOKiN has expanded its reach to customers in more than 100 countries and continues to grow its lineup with practical, well-built accessories.

Unboxing and First Impressions

Inside the box, you’ll find the MOKiN 200W Desktop Charger along with its external power supply. Setup couldn’t be any easier. Simply connect the power adapter, plug it into the wall, and the charger is ready to go.

After powering it on, I was greeted by MOKiN’s familiar LCD display. A single button on the top of the unit lets you cycle through several different display screens, allowing you to view real-time charging information such as how much power each connected device is drawing, total charging output, charging time, average power usage, and other system information. It’s a simple interface that’s easy to navigate and genuinely useful if you like keeping an eye on what your devices are pulling.

My first impression was just how compact the charger is. Despite offering six charging ports and up to 200W of total output, it takes up very little space on a desk. The clean, vertical design helps minimize clutter, making it an excellent addition to a desktop setup without dominating valuable workspace.

Overall Use

After using the MOKiN 200W Desktop Charger on my desk for a while, it’s become one of those accessories I don’t want to be without. My desk is filled with power-hungry devices including a MacBook Air, iPad Pro, smartphone, wireless accessories, and even large-capacity power banks, so having a single charging station that can handle everything without needing multiple wall adapters has been incredibly convenient. Instead of cluttering my desk with individual chargers, I now have one compact unit that quietly sits in the corner until I need it.

One of my favorite features is the built-in retractable USB-C cable. It keeps the desktop looking clean and organized because there’s no loose cable hanging around when it’s not being used. When I need to charge something quickly, I simply pull it out, plug it in, and when I’m finished it retracts neatly back into the charger. My only complaint is that I wish MOKiN had included two or even three retractable cables instead of just one. That would make it even more convenient for frequently charging multiple USB-C devices without reaching for additional cables.

The LCD display is another feature I’ve grown to appreciate. Being able to see exactly how much power each connected device is drawing is surprisingly useful, especially when charging laptops or high-capacity power banks. It takes the guesswork out of charging and gives the charger a more premium feel.

Overall, this has become a permanent fixture on my desk. It stays out of the way, takes up very little space, and is always ready whenever I need to charge another device. For anyone with a desk full of modern USB-C gadgets, this feels less like an optional accessory and more like a necessity. It keeps everything organized, eliminates cable clutter, and provides enough power that I’ve rarely found myself wishing for anything more.

Conclusion

The MOKiN 200W Desktop Charger is another excellent product from a brand that has consistently impressed me. It delivers plenty of power in a surprisingly compact design, keeps desktop clutter to a minimum, and offers enough ports to charge just about everything I use on a daily basis. The retractable USB-C cable, informative LCD display, and 200W total output all combine to create a charging station that feels both practical and thoughtfully designed.

MOKiN 200W GaN Charger 6-Port with LCD Display

As with any high-powered GaN charger, it does get warm when it’s supplying a lot of power, especially when charging multiple devices or power-hungry equipment at the same time. During my testing, however, the temperatures never reached a point that I considered unsafe or concerning. The heat remained well within what I’d expect from a charger pushing this much power, and I never experienced any performance issues while using it.

My biggest wish is that MOKiN had included two or three retractable USB-C cables instead of just one, as that would make an already convenient charger even better. Even so, that’s a relatively minor complaint.

MOKiN 200W GaN Charger 6-Port with LCD Display

If you’re looking for a single charging station that can replace a handful of bulky wall adapters while keeping your desk clean and organized, the MOKiN 200W Desktop Charger is an easy recommendation. It’s become a permanent part of my desktop setup, and I can honestly say it’s one of those accessories that you don’t realize you need until you start using it every day. Once it’s on your desk, it’s hard to imagine going back.
